A lovely lady at my craft club, called Sue, told me about a wonderful way of storing ribbons. She got her husband to get her some plastic guttering for the spools of ribbon to sit in.........I thought it was a great idea, so I got my husband to do the is the finished result..............perfectly placed to see all the ribbons.........easy to select a ribbon without disturbing the rest....................(the only problem is that I think I've got too many !!!) ........Thanks Sue. xx

In amongst Christmas.... a birthday card !!

Here is a birthday card that I have managed to do whilst busy making Christmas cards and gifts. I have to admit that I have been pretty good this year and have been making Christmas cards all year. I have a good stock so it is nice to take the pressure off and make a birthday card. This stitched card is mounted onto green card (I used tonic die for the cut out). Layered in pink and bright green I feel goes well together. I used Tim Holtz inks to colour the top of the card pink, as white was a little too stark for me. I have added two little butterflies as the only adornment.

Candles and cards.

Yes, it's that time of the year when everything is to do with Christmas !!

Not to be left behind, here are a couple of Christmas cards and candles that I have made.
This Christmas tree consists of bows. I arranged the bows so they give the impression of a tree. I then used a fine marker in green to draw the shape of the tree and added some green gems and the wording "Merry Christmas"
This card was created using a stamp that I got free in a magazine. I used embossing powders in gold and black and then cut out the bauble using spellbinders dies. I stuck them on one side of the card. I added some strips of glitter in gold to highlight the edges and added the wording on the other side.
I have been experimenting with candles. I printed off this photo of Rolo, my border terrier dog just onto plain copier paper. I then lay over the candle. Using a heat gun I slowly melted the wax off the candle so that the image is stuck onto the candle . I think it looks great. An ideal Christmas present.
This candle uses the same technique as above, but this time I stamped the image onto tissue paper and then used the heat gun. I added the ribbon at the top using red tape to stick.

Just a couple of cards.....

Here are a couple of stitched cards that I have just completed. I haven't done much lately on my blog as I have been busy making Xmas pressies for friends and family (I can't show them here just yet in case they are looking !!!!!)

This stitched card incorporates beads as well. I wasn't too sure on the beads as they seem a little too large to me, but looking from a distance don't seem too bad. I had the topper and the backing card from a set from Hunkydory. I cut squares from each corner of the stitched card and then mounted onto red mirri card and cut corners out again.
This stitched card I couldn't wait to do. When I saw the pattern (just the central part) I knew I could make it larger. I stitched the original pattern and then layered onto pale blue card. Then I took the pattern and placed around the edges and stitched. I cut in out in a circle as the 5 sided shape is a little difficult to arrange. I used Martha Stewart circle punch to create the shaped circle behind the stitching. The background paper is of snowflakes so I added silver snowflakes using Robert Addams die.

Getting ready for Christmas!!!!

Here is a knitted wreath that I have just completed ready for Christmas. The pattern and wool were from "Deramores". It was knitted like a scarf and then the row ends sewn together around the frame. I added the velvet bow (which looks a little pink but it is actually Christmas red.) then I just pushed through the decorations which were on wires which I curled around the wreath to keep in place.

Oriental Fan

I stitched this fan with the finished design in mind - (unusual for me!!).
I had the backing papers and flowers already and once I had done the stitching I added the flowers onto the fan -they had a beige border so I used a fine line pen and went around the edges in black to make the flowers stand out more. I added a sparkly gem on the bottom of the fan and added a small gem in each corner of the card.

Pink & Black

This is a stitched card that I have just completed. When I first stitched the card I had no idea how it would end up. I had decided to stitch the pattern in pink and black as the combination of colours is quite striking. When finished I used a circle die to cut it out and then layered onto a black circle. The pink and black outer circle was achieved by using Martha Stewart round punch system. I did an 8 inch circle using the punch on pink card. This I stuck onto black card and cut round the edge using scissors. The black silhouette image is from a x-cut die. I used cosmic shimmer glue in pink to add small "beads" across the neck-line to give a necklace look. I think this card has an "art deco" feel to it. What do you think?
