Xmas Berries

Hopefully yesterdays card that I scheduled, appeared ok, otherwise you wont know what I'm talking about LOL !!

Todays card is another one using Craftwork Cards Candi and also a Woodware stamp.

On this simple image I didn't have the right colour candi so luckily I had some white so I used my promarkers to achieve the right colour.

I quite often buy white embellishments so that I can colour match my projects better.

I have a Martha Stewart punch around the page punch of snowflakes. I decided to try and make the corner punch works inwards rather than outwards.

I cut my piece of card so that was larger than my piece of pattern paper. Then using a craft knife, I carefully cut out the middle so that I had created a frame large enough to be able to use the punch. I had to work backwards with the punch, looking at the underneath blades to line up the paper correctly.

I punched the 4 internal corners, and then slipped the corners of my patterned paper inside the snowflake (like photo mounts) to hold the paper.

I had some cream ribbon with red snowflakes on which matched perfectly.
So I backed the ribbon on a strip of red card at the top and bottom.

A classic colour combination of red and cream.

Candi Flower Card

Morning Everybody, I have hopefully scheduled this post as I am away at my brothers for a few days.

This card is quite a simple one to achieve.

I stamped the image onto some lilac gingham card (the stamp is from woodware). I coloured in the leaves using promarkers.

The small dots are blogs of cosmic shimmer coloured glue.

The large dots are Craftwork Cards Candi (afternoon tea).

I added the sentiment (Robert Addams Dies)

The top and bottom edging is from Spellbinders, I used a navy gel pen to draw inside the lower shape to make it stand out a bit more. Backed onto lavender card and a white card blank. Quite a sweet card.

Not your usual kind of Christmas card !

Carrying on the theme of using pages from a book, this card has been created by using Spellbinders Xmas tree die on the page of a book.

I then lay the die over some hammered cream card (from PMD) and using a brown ink pad lightly coloured the card around the die (I didn't colour on top of the die as I wanted the background to stay cream).

I then stuck the die cut image into the space where the card was still cream.

I have added small turquoise gems all over the Xmas tree.

I found that I had some ribbon that matched beautifully so I applied that across the top. The "happy Christmas" is from Robert Addams dies on turquoise card (PMD).

I have then used a small bauble stamp in brown ink 3 times across the top.

Up-cycling an old book

It seems the fashion to up-cycle these days and I know that other crafters have used pages from a book.

This is my take on that trend.

I tore some pages out of a book and cut them into strips.
Then I weaved them in and out of each other so that the words are horizontal and vertical. I stuck them onto a piece of card to hold in place.

The swirly butterfly design is a cutting file from the silhouette portrait. I originally cut it in cream but then decided to colour it using a black promarker pen.

The verse inside the image I just typed from my computer, printed onto cream linen card, and then cut the circle out to fit inside the image.
I have added a black frame and mounted onto cream linen card.

The card I have used comes from papermill direct.

Hobbycutz Design Team Challenge #58

This is my first entry as a Design Team Member for Hobbycutz.

The sponsor for this challenge is "ALL DRESSED UP". The image is called "I love my puppy".The criteria was to use buttons in the design.

I have used promarkers to colour this lovely image. I chose pastel colours to use. The embossed background is from Crafters companion. I have used white card and then inked over with a pastel green ink.

The buttons were from my stash - but are quite striking around the image.

Flutter by butterfly

A stitched card with a pretty butterfly on.

I tried to keep to the colours of pink, purple and green. I cut the butterfly (spellbinders - I think it's called Papillion) out of white card and coloured using promarkers. I then found the backing paper which is very vibrant - but  I love it! and it is mainly pink, purple and green.

I backed the stitched piece onto purple card and backed the backing paper onto lime green card. I then used strips of lime green and purple card across the corners and added a pink gem.

I've added green gems to the corners of the stitched piece and also down the centre of the butterfly. I then added a "blob" of Dovecraft glitterglue to the butterfly wings at the top and bottom, as we all know that butterflies have to  be sparkly (it's the craft law).

Opposites attract !!

This card has been created from an idea using the Spellbinders In'spire die "Silhouette".

When I saw this die I thought of Wedgewood potteries. So I cut two out one in white and the other one in pale blue. I then reversed the image so that the white was in the blue background and vice versa.

I then had to try and find some matching blue paper for the background. I found this piece that had black swirls on , but was almost the same shade of blue. (I have a drawer of blue background papers and would you believe it could only find this one piece that was anywhere near the right shade of blue!).

So now I have black in the colour scheme, so I backed the 2 pieces of card onto black and also put black behind the blue backing paper.

The happy birthday is from Robert Addams dies. and the black flower is from Spellbinders Delicate Aster. I have just added white pearls to the centre of each flower.

The photo doesn't show the wording up to well as it seems to get lost among the backing paper - in real life it doesn't look too bad.

Owl'll have a lovely Christmas, hope you do too!!

Another card made for Christmas. This cute owl was die cut using the Silhoette portrait. I cut the pieces out of plain white card and coloured the components using promarkers. Then assembled and stuck onto a Christmas card blank. There was an oval aperture, but I used co-ordinating Christmas paper to fill.
I found the sentiment when I was looking through my stash of Xmas things and couldn't believe my luck, it fits perfectly.

Isn't it a "Fab" Egg !!!!

I made this polystyrene egg a few years ago before I had a blog, so I thought I would share it with you now.

Very easy to make, just thin strips of paper curled up and stuck onto the polystyrene egg. Matching ribbon around and on the top with a small flower completes this creation.

I sure the Russian Tsars would have loved it.....might have inspired them to get someone local in Russia to make some eggs for them....you never know !! LOL !!

Love is in the Air !!!

I made this card/display frame after seeing something very similar on "craftsuperstore" facebook page.

It consists of 8 frames, 4 panels and 4 connecting panels.

First you cut 8 frames. Then add a vertical piece of string to the middle of 4 of the frames. Then stick some ribbon at the sides to connect the 4 frames. Then stick the other 4 frames over these to hide the adhesive.

Apply some washi tape across the 4 connecting panels on both sides for strength.
Now you can decorate your 4 panels, once decorated stick the decorative panel to the connecting panels making sure that they weave through the 4 frames with the string between each piece.

I've decorated the end panels using craftwork cards die cut flowers.

These frames are quite small (5 x 5) each. I am thinking of making a larger set but having photos of the family in each panel. Of course, you can make this as large or as long as you wanted.

No you cant retire !!

My husband is a builder and is 63 years old this year. He keeps dropping hints that he wants to retire early - but I choose to ignore these hints...

I decided to make this birthday card for him as an apron with all his tools on it. I have added some faux stitching around the edge of the apron and also around the pocket.
Some of the tools are metal charms and the others are from a die by Robert Addams.
The tape measure is actually ribbon. I cut a small piece off and rolled it up to look like a tape measure.

As a reminder that he still has to work I have added a clock charm so that he can see how time goes by really quickly when you are occupied LOL !!

The Perfect Husband ???!!!???

I have made this card for my Husband for our wedding anniversary. Our anniversary isn't until December - but when inspiration strikes you just have to go with it !!!

The central part of the card has been achieved by using Tonic dies for the wording and also the circular piece.

I cut the circular piece out first then cut the wording out of the centre. I then backed the circular piece onto white card. Using foam pads I then put the black words back into the centre. I then cut the words out again, this time in gold mirri card. I have off-set them slightly so that the black shows at the side. You cant really see that too well as I took the photograph from the side so that I wouldn't get too much reflection in the picture.

The backing is done by using "Clarity Stamps stencil- 7700067 seaweed"
I used a gold sparkle medium by imagination crafts.
Once dried I backed onto black card and then a white card.

I am pleased with the result.

As to him being a "Perfect husband" well after years of training by me he is almost perfect (there's always room for improvement as I'm sure all you ladies out there will agree LOL !!)
Black and white - always a classic

Black and white always works well in a card. I have recently bought a Woodware stamp "JGS300 Going to seed".

I stamped the image 3 times, once in the centre of the card and then either side of the central image to give a continual image.

I used clear embossing ink and then used white embossing powder - the image is then bonded using a heat gun.

The sentiment is from "Marion Emberson Designs- PICSA6181 -Birthday kisses".

This image I just stamped onto white card using black ink.

I have used a embossed white dotted piece of card as backing paper, which I run a black ink pad lightly over to just ink the dots- it worked well - which I was pleased with as I normally make a mess when I attempt things like this !!

The black and white flower is made using my favourite flower die "Spellbinders - delicate aster".

Simple but effective I think....do you agree???

A Tea Towel gift turned into a cushion.

My friend bought me this tea-towel for my birthday.

It's a really nice tea-towel but I thought I would turn it into a cushion for my craft room.
I added lace around the edge I also added lace across the top and bottom. I then added ric-rac over the lace. Finally I added some hot-fix crystals over the wording and at the top and bottom of the panel. The rosette and added button was the final embellishment. It now sits on my chair in my craft room.

A Stitched Xmas Card

A pretty stitched card for Xmas. I have used a variegated metallic thread for the stitching. The centre cut out snowflake is from Spellbinders and the outside cut out section is from Tonic. I have then used a small snowflake punch and gold mirri card and punched out somw snowflakes for the corners and also for the centre.
The wording is from Robert Addams dies (such lovely font). I have backed the stitched linen card (from papermill direct) onto gold mirri card (centre piece only) and turquoise mirri card for the whole card.

You cannot see clearly from the photograph the colours of the mirri card.

Blue for a Boy and Pink for a Girl.

I have made this wall hanging for my Nephew and his wife, who are expecting their second child at the end of the year. I have done the same design on both sides - but on the other side the "B's" are in yellow and the "A" & "Y" are either blue or pink. Also on the other side the word "Welcome to the world" is in pink.
I made some blue, pink and yellow paper clay teddies using a mould. The other images are from "LittleB" baby dies.

A Simple Stitched Card.

A simply stitched purple card. I haven't added anything to my blog for a few days.....don't quite know where the time goes !! I do have several things on the go so over this coming weekend will try and complete these so that I can add to my blog next week.

I choose a simple pattern and have stitched this using a variegated purple thread. The cut out section has been achieved using Tonic dies. The daisy embellishments are from papermania and self adhesive. The word "happy birthday" are from Robert Addams dies.

I always stitch on Papermill direct Linen card and the purple background card is also from them.

MELT POT FRAME !

I had a lovely morning today.

I attended a workshop at "Christine Emberson's shop" in Gravesend.

The tutor was Jenny from the Artistic Stamper.

We made this frame, and she showed us various techniques using the melt pot.

As you can see in the photo, every embellishment has been created using melt pot.

The large butterflies were created using a cookie cutter.
The round swirl was from a mould.
The flowers and dragon fly were created by dipping into the melt pot.

This is something I will definitely try again.
