It's Christmas.....Red Hot !!!!

Morning all, phew isn't it hot !!!!! I know we must not complain, but it never seems to be the right temperature in this country does it??

Treated myself to some of Sue Wilson's new dies. They arrived Saturday, but I've only just been able to have a little play with them today.  This first card has used the dies "festive collection - Christmas scene mini background". They cut lovely - although I did have to rotate them just once using the GC - but that's the GC's fault not the dies. There are 5 dies in this set, starting from the middle there is a circular scene, then a layering plain circle, then a decorative rectangle, then a layering plain rectangle, and finally the largest decorative scene. This last die stays in the card- so I had to trim around after - but not an issue. I have red and glossy black card to cut these dies out of apart from the plain circle which I cut out in white. I added some shading to the white piece with a black pencil....not sure if it shows up on the photo. A black and red poinsettia flower (free with the tattered lace C&C Christmas special magazine) as been added as embellishment along with a merry Christmas ribbon backed onto the same black card. The background paper is a red dotty on white.

Please stop by over the next few days to see what other Sue Wilson dies that I have bought.

Take care in this heat....drink plenty of water....and keep your pets cool.

I took Rolo out for an early walk this morning before it got too hot. it was his birthday yesterday. He is now 6 years old and for a special treat I cooked him lambs liver for his dinner.

See you again soon. x

Book Folding Problems..... and maybe a solution !!

Morning all, the last Sunday of June today, this month has certainly flown by quickly !!

I hope you are all well and happy and having a great weekend so far.

Today's blog has come about due to doing book-folding. For those of you who follow my blog regularly, you will know that I have done a few of these book folding projects. I have the cd rom from "Peerless Designs" which is a great starting point I feel. I had noticed that when doing a word or number the grid that you work from is like the photo below. A series of lines that you follow to create the letter or number, however, some of these looked a bit sparse, and some of the numbers or letters you could just make out. So I had a think about this problem and I think I've come up with a solution (although it may already be known to some of you!!).
Looking at this number "8" you can see it consists of 38 lines to complete - this means you need 76 pages to create the number "8". Below is the photo of this grid done.

I then thought I would do the white lines AS WELL AS the black lines!!

As you can see, my grid now consists of 75 lines, which is 150 pages.
But look at the difference when complete - a much fuller number. Of course you will use twice as many pages doing it this way then you would doing the original way, so may not be suitable for a long word !!

So even if you haven't got the cd rom you could still create your own grid, just by printing or drawing the outline of the letter or number - which could be in any font - and adding stripes.

This then set me thinking even more (must have sat in the sun too long and fried my brain LOL !!) if you can do letters and numbers by really only drawing the outline and then adding stripes....what else can you do????
The Bat Signal, of course !!!  I went to google images and printed off the outline of the bat signal.

I added stripes (not too exact - or neat but to give you the idea).

Watch this space if this turns into a book - my eldest son would love it - so might do as a Christmas present for him.

This opens up all sorts of avenues to make a really personalised book folding present..........

Hope I've got you all thinking about what you could do??????
Let me know your ideas.

Have a great Sunday, enjoy your roast or barbeque LOL !!, and see you again soon. x

Tip of the Day !!!!!

Afternoon all, hope you are all well & happy, despite the terrible things that are happening around the world at the moment.

Just a quick blog today with two pieces of (hopefully) useful information.

1. KarenLotty left a comment regarding the threads that I use on my she has been inspired and downloaded a free pattern (well done you !!)

The threads that I use are machine embroidery threads of any brand, but I like to use "Mettler- poly sheen" or "Guterman - sulky". Hope that helps any of you about to start this lovely hobby.

2. if you need acetate for a project, but have run out or don't have enough, but you have a laminator - run through a laminator sheet without anything inside - will be as stiff as acetate and just as clear.

Enjoy the lovely weather we are having this weekend and don't get too burnt!!

MAWTT Challenge

Morning all, Friday here again....doesn't the weeks fly by when you're having fun !!!

I've done a lot of cards with stitching on, in the hope of aspiring others to have a go. I'm pleased to say that Mrs Duck (see her blog by clicking on her name at the side under my blog list) has succumbed at last and has entered her card into the MAWTT - "moving along with the times" challenge as she is on the DT and has said that I should enter too.

Here is my entry.

Why don't you enter too????

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by. x

Book Folding For 18th Birthday.

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy this fine, Thursday !!!
Today's offering is another book folding creation. More intense this one, with a word, a heart and numbers - certainly went overboard here !!

It's my niece's 18th Birthday in August - so this is what I have made for her.
I thought the butterflies off the top was a pretty effect. The butterflies are stuck onto acetate. I'm tempted to add another on top of the wording, but I am holding fire on that at the moment.....I don't want to ruin this after yesterday's blog !!

I haven't added anything to the front of the book yet either.....don't know whether to leave well alone and keep it plain or to add something....... watch this space if before August I cant resist and add some more to this book.
Have a great day.I really appreciate you taking the time to read my blog and leave a comment. Thanks x

Back to Card Making !!

Good Morning all, hope you are all well and happy.

After a few days of beading and knitting, I thought I would return to card making, and boy, am I out of practise !!!!!

The original topper that I had for this card came from "Making Cards" magazine - a special ladies edition. In that issue there was a lovely black and white photo of two ladies roller skating from the 1940's. I used my oval dies and cut it out and layered it onto the pale blue card. Stuck it onto the background paper and stood back to look at it.......big mistake !!!  I then thought it needs a black line around the I got my "sharpie" pen in black and carefully started drawing around the oval. Half way around I seemed to have a wobble and ended up with a little wiggle where I didn't want one.....that's ok I thought i'll just make the line thicker to disguise the wiggle.....of course I just made things worse so I tore it off the card and threw it in the bin.
So here we have a mannequin instead !!!!!
Still like the card but annoyed with myself for ruining the first attempt......oh well it's only paper boo hoo LOL !!!!

Have a great day and see you again soon. x

Another Knitted Project Completed !!

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy this Tuesday Morning !!

Have been knitting this jumper off and on for a while now. I bought the pattern and the wool when I went to Excel craft show earlier this year.

Both the pattern and wool are from "King Cole" pattern is no: 3844 and the wool is Shine (shade 137 quicksilver). The wool has a silver thread running through the various shades of grey and black. An easy pattern to follow as only consists of a 4 row repeat pattern.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by. x

Whoops, I've dropped a Clanger !!!!!!!

It's Ok I've picked him up again !!!!!

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy. I knitted this Clanger yesterday. I had downloaded the free pattern from "". The pattern was in 3ply wool. I have knitted it in DK, so it's bigger than the Deramores pattern, at about 11 inches. I have made a few adjustments by adding felt fingers, rather than knitting.

I made a different tunic from the pattern too, as the Deramores pattern was for a girl Clanger. I went to Google images to get some ideas of how the tunic should look then made a paper template before cutting out in red felt.
I stitched each piece with a running gold stitch and then joined together using embroidery silks in red.
The hair is brown felt, and I've used black wool for the eyes.

My husband's got his eye on this toy to put in his van...... I might let him have it as long as he doesn't start talking (whistling) like a Clanger all the time LOL !!!

Have a good Monday and thanks for stopping by. x

2ND Beaded Pen

Morning All, a bit late with the blog today, as I only finished this 2nd beaded pen late last night.

I found this one a lot quicker to do. I think once you get the hang of doing the rows, it soon becomes quicker.
Like I said on my previous beaded pen blog, I've decided to make a couple of these as Christmas presents for my family, well the female members of the family !!!
Today is a bit overcast here in Kent at the moment, hopefully the sun will come out soon.

Have a great weekend, whatever you are doing. I did most of my housework yesterday, so hopefully I can craft for most of the day.........
.....oh no spoke to soon.......just seen my son carrying a huge pile of dirty washing........looks like I will be doing the washing as well LOL !!!!!

Smile at the Birdie !!!!

Good Morning all, isn't this a fab image ???
LOTV of course, it's such a happy, sweet image, suitable for any occasion.

The background card is Lime linen card (it's brighter in real life !!) I've stitched rice beads in pale lime onto the card with lime thread.

I've then added aqua card as a layer behind the LOTV topper, and used the same aqua card to do the butterflies. The large one is a Spellbinders die and the small ones are actually the "waste" from a Tonic punch. I've added a blog of "ice stickles glitter glue" in aqua onto the body of the large butterfly.

Lovely sunny weather we are having, but hay fever is bad too - so I can't win!!

Have a great day xx

Iris Folded Christmas Tree Card.

Morning all, a quick blog today. An Iris folded Christmas Tree card.

I have added beads around the tree as well as a gold star on top.

I die cut the stocking garland and the wording and then added a strip of peel - offs at each side.

Nothing too O.T.T !!!!

Have a great day. x

Good Morning all, hope you are all well and happy.
Today's blog is something different from me. A beaded pen !!
You buy the pen blanks and then choose any pattern you like and using Miyuki Delica beads, make the two tubes in beads that slide over the pen. (The pen comes apart so that you can do each half.)

The pattern consists of red, blue and orange flowers. These two photos show the full pattern. Did take a while to complete, but the second half was quicker than the first !
I have decided to make more of these pens as little Christmas presents for friends and family this year.
Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing, and thanks for stopping by. x

2nd Showing of Hubby's card....

Morning all, no you haven't got a sense of Deja-vu LOL !!!  I had scheduled this post to appear today on Saturday (if that makes sense) but for some reason it appeared Saturday afternoon, so I deleted it. Not sure if blogger was playing up or whether I had pressed the wrong buttons (highly likely, but will blame blogger !!).

If you had seen it on Saturday then I apologise. For all those fresh eyes, I will go into more detail.

I had stitched this pattern for my husband's birthday, which isn't until Sept, some time ago. I put it into a box so that he wouldn't see it and then forgot all about it until I was looking for some stitching patterns and found it again. I thought I would better make it into a card before it goes missing again.

Just used orange card for my layering and the background paper is from an old issue of "Making Cards" magazine. The fisherman, chair and wording are dies from Robert Addams.

I've put this made card back into the box of stitching patterns (this is a note for me just in case I forget in September LOL !!!)

Have a great day.....Monday again.....groan from all the workers.... and try and do some crafting this week....I know I will. xx

FAMOUS AT LAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning to you all. Well what can I say but my "name" is in a book LOL !!!

Following on from when I showed you my initial book from a friend. My crafting friends and I decided to do our names.

The alphabet grid comes from a cd rom from "Peerless Designs". Easy to print off and understand.

Once it was all folded I used blue inks and coloured in the wording, so that it stands out a bit more.

When it was my birthday I received a present from a friend wrapped in this fantastic peacock paper. As soon as I saw the paper I knew I would want to use it in a crafting project.

I mounted the paper onto some blue cardstock to make it thicker and then stuck it to the front and back of the book. I have added a real peacock feather, as well as adding a peacock design die cut out of gold card onto the front hide the ribbon added across the front.

The ribbon was originally white, but I have used promarkers to colour it in so that it matches the peacock theme.

Have a great day, whatever you are doing and keep crafting !!! x

Just a note, I had scheduled a post for Monday but it appeared yesterday afternoon (don't know why?) So I have deleted it. Will try and put it back tomorrow. Xx

Pretty in Pink !!

Hello all, hope you are all well and happy, and if like me,  you suffer from hay fever, hope you are managing to cope ok and still craft whilst sneezing !!!
A quick blog today, a stitched and beaded card.....nothing too fancy, just added corners and a small topper and matching background paper.

A handy card to have in my stash......

Please stop by tomorrow and see my name in a book (yes, I am famous !!!!) x

Envelopes and Notelets....

Good Morning all, hope you are all well and happy.

Today's blog continues on from yesterday. I have now made the envelopes and notelets to go into by box.

I used WRMK envelope maker to make these envelopes and then I have decorated inside the top, using the same paper.

Then I have made the notelets in white hammer card. I have done a different design on each one, using the same coloured card as used in the box. I was quite surprised to see how many little dies that went perfectly.

The items now in the box.

I really enjoyed making this and will definitely make some more, but I think I will adapt the basic design to make different storage sizes....maybe for a needlework this space !!!!

Have a good day and thanks for stopping by. x
