Morning all, last day of November that means in 25 days, it will be "CHRISTMAS".......don't panic......It's just another day LOL !!!!

On to less stressful is a card that I have made for a male friend of my husband. He will be 92 on the 3rd (the friend, not my husband LOL!!).
So I decided to make a simple card, with a silhouette design. I have just bought this die from "First Edition Craft - Transport Dies". I have cut them all out in plain black card and then using a silver gel pen, added some high-lights.

Each design is mounted onto white "Centura pearl" card, using SP square die (cant remember the name, but years old).
The background paper comes from "Docrafts".
I hope he will remember when he was younger, and knowing him, has probably been in the driving seat of all these modes of transport.

Have a good day, and see you again soon. x

Gift Box for the Beaded Pen......

 Morning all, happy Sunday.....

Today's blog has left me with a dilemma...... hope you're concentrating !!!

A while back I made two beaded pens (have shown on the blog before). When i made them, it was for a Christmas present for my mum and my best friend. But you know what it's like, since then I've bought other things for them both.

Anyway, I decided to make a box for the pen. I had seen Sara from "Crafters Companion" making a tea-light box/card. So i decided to do something on a similar line, but rather than just a card and a box at the side. I thought i would add a note book and a calendar.  I used "Crafters Companion" double sided A3 card to make the box/card and note book cover. I haven't decided whether to add a ribbon around the outside for tying together, or whether to add a velcro dot for the closure.

I will add some tissue paper for the pen to sit in, and will decorate the front, once i've decided on the closure issue.

I could save them for their birthdays instead, which luckily for me are both in January.

You help me decide.....Christmas or Birthday??????

Leave me a comment. x

Paper Snowflakes.....

Morning all, Last weekend of November......Christmas is approaching fast !!!!!

Black Friday went without much fuss this year, compared to last year, I even thought the roads were quieter!. I couldn't be bothered to even look at buying anything....I think it's just a ploy to get you to buy larger items, that you wouldn't even consider buying at this time of year.

A quick blog today.

A couple of snowflakes that I have made recently. I haven't quite decided to make loads more to sell at the Xmas fair that I'm doing on Friday, or just make a few to decorate the table....will let you know later.
Really easy to make, takes just 6 squares with "L" shape splits in the corners, then glue two corners on one side together, then turn over and glue the other two corners together. Once all 6 done, glue together at side and bottom point to create a snowflake.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever you are doing (let's hope it's crafting indoors, rather than struggling to do Christmas shopping) x

MAWTT November Challenge: Give Thanks......

Morning all, MAWTT Challenge here again. This time it's set by Claire:- with the theme "Give Thanks".

I have used a "thanks" die to do loads of coloured "thanks" along one side, then using a Hunkydory topper, have added a sentiment on the other side.

some additional flowers are added to the bottom......

The Sentiment.....

Pop over the MAWTT Blog to check out the othe DT teams entries......or enter yourself.

Good luck x

SNOWFLAKES !!!!...........

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy this Monday Morning.
Because some parts of the UK had snow over the weekend, I thought, what better than to show snowflakes on my blog today.

I bought a set of snowflakes at Excel on Thursday, and when i decided to get my beads out on Saturday, i found another packet unused (like you do LOL!!).

So, Saturday afternoon, and again, in the evening (after watching Strictly !!) I spent time in my craft room making these snowflakes. I had made 13, all different designs, and was feeling tired, when my youngest son came into the room, to annoy (erm, I mean see what I was doing!!) and he stated that he could make a better snowflake than the ones I've made !!!!!

So before I knew it, he was sitting in my chair, with all my beads in front of him, deciding what he was going to do.

I was standing up in the corner, with the ribbons, threading through the snowflakes that I had made.........
This is his design!!! By the way he is 23 and a big hunky man, with bulging biceps ( I should have taken a photo of him, I could have used it as blackmail later on LOL !!)

When I said that I was hopefully going to sell them at the craft fair that I'm doing soon, he then started to disagree with the pricing. I thought £2 was reasonable by he said £1........what do you think??
 A close-up of my designs.

Of course, I will be gutted if i only sell his one LOL !!

Take care, and see you again soon. x

My Husband's Anniversary Card.....

Morning all, hope you are all well, happy & warm.

Here is the card that I've made for my hubby, for our anniversary next month.

I've used all new items that I've recently bought on-line.

The die is Sue Wilson, "Heraldic Square".I've cut the largest die out 4 times in black. Then I've cut 4 pieces of the second largest in yellow. On two of the yellow pieces I've then cut the smallest piece out. On two of the large pieces in black I've used the same smallest intricate die to cut the pattern. Then I've layered the plain yellow piece behind the black pieces that have the pattern on. On the plain black pieces I've put the cut out yellow pieces on front.......Does that make sense ?  LOL !! It does in my head......but that's not saying much !!

Basically I've done two of each in alternate ways >>.

The butterfly images are a new stamp design from a company called "Altenew". It's quite a good concept with three stamps per butterfly, and you build up the layers. So the first layer is the pale lemon block shape of the butterfly, the second is the darker yellow patterned shapes and the third is the final black outline and pattern shapes. What I especially like about them, is that you don't have to be precise, the idea is to be slightly off with the pieces (especially the black) , which for me (not being a very good stamper) is ideal. The wording is also part of the stamp range by Altenew.
Really pleased with how the card turned out, and I've been trying out different colours with the butterfly stamps to get different watch this space for more blogs!!!!

Have a great weekend. x

A Disappointing Day......

Morning all, hope you are all well, happy and warm!!!! Please wrap up warm if you're out and about today. Brrrrrrrr LOL!!

Yesterday, i went to Excel for the craft show......well I was quite disappointed. The above photo is ALL that I bought !!. I don't believe I've ever spent so little at a craft show. I was in two minds whether to buy the mobile arms from Pinflair, as I've seen them many times before and always talked myself out of buying them, but this time, because i had spent so little i decided to take the plunge.

At Excel, there were fewer stall holders than in past years. The aisle's were spacious, and there was a larger tea/sitting down area at the back.

I think it's a sign of the times, as the last few craft shows that I've been to have seen a similar decline. I don't know whether more people are buying on line, or via TV channels, or whether the venues themselves are charging too much to the exhibitors. Either way it's not good news for us crafters. If you're like me, and like to see things in the flesh, so to speak, and also look at new things, it will come a time when these shows will be cancelled. There was nothing new at Excel. I know I didn't have to pay for the tickets, as I received two complimentary tickets in the post, but I would rather pay for my ticket, knowing that I was going to a good show.

I hope I haven't put any of you off from going, if you are going tomorrow. It's just my opinion.

I think we should get a petition up to send to all these venues and tell them that if they charge the exhibitors less, more will attend, which in turn will make more of us attend......what do you think??

I hope, what ever you are doing this weekend, you have a good time. It's going to be a cold one, so wrap up warm if you're going out.....or better still, stay indoors and craft. x

"Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer......"

Morning all, hope you were all singing along !!!!

Today, I will be at Excel for the craft show. I didn't go to NEC so it's only fair that i go to Excel to compensate LOL !!!!

Hopefully, will be able to report back with my goodies on Friday.

Today's blog just continues from Tuesday. The reindeer cut and fold book has now been decorated.

I've used a red pom-pom for his nose, which sits in nicely in the dip. I've used brown ink to add some colour to him, so that he stands out more from the pages.

I've decorated the front and back the same, and have used the paper vertically on the spine.
A merry Christmas ribbon glued onto cream card at the front to hold the book open completes the decoration.

Nice to be in my craft room again, now that my son has gone back to Oxford.
Love having him here, but also love my craft room !!!!!!!

Have a good day, whatever you are doing.

Come back again to see what I bought (if anything......yeah right !!!).

My First Attempt At Cut and Fold Book Design.

I've still to decorate the book, but so far, pleased with the result.

My son is still with me. He should be going back to Oxford tomorrow, so I'll be able to get back into the craft room.

Christmas Candle.....

Morning all, a quick blog today, but i hope you will agree, a good one.

I have used a Christmas stamp on tissue paper, and then laid it over the candle and then wrapped baking paper over it. Then using a heat gun, have gently heated the candle so that the wax starts to melt over the tissue paper. The image then seems to sink into the candle, without ruining the candle or the tissue paper.

The stamp from all sides, as you can see it's a large image that takes up most of the candle.
A small piece of ribbon wrapped around the top, makes this a really, quick and easy present to do.

Have fun this weekend, and thanks for stopping by. x

Oh No......It's Friday 13th !!!!!!

Morning all, hope Friday 13th isn't unlucky for any of you....and me !!!

I'm typing this blog on Thursday evening, ready to schedule for Friday.
As i'm typing this, my Christmas cake (see photo above) is in the oven baking away. Hopefully it will come out beautifully, and over the next 6 weeks will be have brandy added to it to make a super Christmas cake.

I'm sorry if I've not commented on your blogs recently. I don't know where the time goes some days, and seem to be trying to catch up with myself - unsuccessfully.

I've not done any crafting, apart from knitting. I think my "mojo" has gone, after the disaster of my craft fayre last week. But i have booked another one, this time in a school, in the first week of December, so hopefully i will have more success.

My son is coming home for the weekend, so I will be unable to use the craft room (his bedroom) until he has gone home. I am going to schedule something for Saturday and will try for Sunday too if I can.

It's been very mild of late, and i think we are all in for a big shock over the weekend when the weather is about to turn colder.

Wrap up warm if you are out and about. x

My Faithful Christmas Cactus !!!!!

Morning all, still no crafting to show, but here is my Christmas cactus that has started to flower again.

I keep this in the conservatory and it's quite neglected all year round, yet despite this, it keeps flowering year after year. As you can see from the photo above all the new growth has buds and flowers on. In the pot behind is a small piece that broke off some time ago that has started to grow, so there will be another plant soon.
 Close-up shots of the flowers.
Enjoy your day. xx

My Weekend Away.....

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy. Nothing crafty to show you today. I've had a lovely weekend in Oxford, visiting my son and his girlfriend.

The hotel was great, although there's nothing better than sleeping in your own bed. The trouble with hotels is that you can always hear your neighbours, turning on switches or using the bathroom (as the fan always starts when you turn the bathroom light on!!).

Food was great too, with a lovely meal for two on Saturday night and a lovely roast dinner for 4 Sunday lunchtime.

On Monday we went to Blenheim Palace for the day. They had all the Christmas decorations up, so each room seemed a little more homely. They had a dining table all laid out in the best silver etc, this table was only used for Christmas dinner!!!

We then had a walk around the grounds and went to the maze. A good time was had by all...... must get back to do some crafting as I've been very slack of late......

Here are a couple of photos. Enjoy your day x

It Was A DISSSSSASTER DARLING!!!! - as Craig Revel Horwood would say!!

Morning all, have scheduled this post, as i'm on my way to Oxford to spend the weekend with my eldest son.

Following on from yesterday, i did my first craft fayre at the local library. It was the first one that was held, and 4 of us turned up with goods to sell.

We set up our individual tables: jewellery, aloe vera products, beauty products and me (selection of cards, folded books and knitted toys etc.

All had a little chat with each other, as people were coming in to renew their library books or buy a coffee etc etc.....all looking very promising. People wandered around looking at our wares. I sold my knitted budgies on a hoop....good start, then nothing, not a dickie bird!!!!. (excuse the pun!!)

Although there were people constantly in and out - no-one sold a thing. So out of the four of us , i was the only one in profit.

A disappointing afternoon.

I'm hoping that i have a brilliant weekend to make up for it, and i hope you do too!! x

Feeling Nervous.............

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy this Friday, and are looking forward to the weekend.

My news??????

Well, my local library has recently opened up a coffee shop, to entice more people to use the library and also to get a community together.
The lady who runs the coffee shop has decided to hold a craft & local produce fayre today. I am having a table to try and sell my cards, knitted items and book folding projects. To say i am nervous is an understatement, as i have never done a fayre before. I don't know if my stuff is good enough to sell and also don't really know what to price stuff at. I am taking a selection of things to test the market. The library is not charging anything for the tables, so I've nothing to lose, but everything to gain.

I will let you know if it was a disaster or a success tomorrow. x

On another note. My hubby and I are going up to Oxford tomorrow for a weekend stay in a hotel and to also meet up with my son and his girlfriend. The plan is for us to have a romantic meal for two on the Saturday night, then have Sunday lunch with my son & his girlfriend. Then on Monday all 4 of us are going to Blenheim Palace for the day, before we come back home. Not sure if i will be able to schedule any blogs for the next couple of days. If not i will see you all next week. x

Lemon & Green......

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy today.
I've photographed this card with a white background and a black background to try and see what looks best. This card is lemon & pale green, so not the easiest to photo.
I like to do the two colour twisted ribbon effect with my cards, as i feel it sets the cards of beautifully.
This image should have been rotated....when i take the photos, i always crop and rotate them if necessary, but for some reason the laptop has decided not to do either.

A close-up of the sequin, beads and stitching.

Enjoy your day and pop by tomorrow for some exciting news (well for me anyway!!!!). x

A Candle to help you see through all this fog !!!!!...........

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy. Hope you had a good Halloween weekend, and if you went to any firework displays, you were able to see them LOL !!!
Very foggy here in Kent all weekend and yesterday too. There was a fireworks display in the village on Sunday night, but the fog was a real "pea-souper" as they use to say in London when there was smog!!! We don't normally go as i don't like to leave Rolo (border terrier) alone during this time, as he barks whenever he hears a loud firework go off and also i can normally see the display from my bedroom window (cheap skate !!). But this year i saw nothing!!

Anyway, onto today's blog. This book folding project was very simple to do, it just involved 3 folds per page of a paperback book.
As you can see it's a candle with a t-light in the top. Although i wouldn't recommend using a t-light (fire hazard), but use a battery operated one. At the time of taking these photo's, I couldn't find mine, so have just placed the t-light at the top to give you the idea.

This is the view from above. I have added red glitter into the top recess. I have used red as the theme, with stick on flat sparkles and a thick felt reindeer/ Christmas tree border.
I have added the wording "happy Christmas" as well as a red circular base out of card.
I know i wasn't going to make anything else for Christmas.....but couldn't resist!!! willpower LOL !!

Have a good day. x
