The End Of 2016........

Morning all, hope you had a great Christmas, and are looking forward to 2017.

I've been really ill since 10th December, when I went to London to see Aladdin the musical. The show was fantastic......but the crowds in London on a Saturday afternoon/evening was terrible. There were so many people trying to get into Leicester Square tube station, that we gave up and started walking to Victoria....until we reached another station and it was easier to get into.

I had a cough, which on Sunday developed into flu-like symptons of aching all over and feeling cold. I had to drive my son back to Oxford that day and I was really glad to get back and go to bed. The next 10 days I felt dreadful. The cough was the main thing....couldn't eat or sleep and my head was pounding each time I coughed. Husband took over the cooking, cleaning and became my nurse for those days....I just couldn't do anything.....no energy. I'm glad to say that after that time, I began to feel slightly better and was able to do the last food shop before Christmas. I've still got the cough and some days it feels like its getting worse, but hopefully I will be back to normal soon.

Being ill, I haven't felt like doing any crafting and haven't visited anyone's blog - so sorry everybody.

A summary of the craft fairs.

I added up all the expenses (table fees, ins and materials - but not my labour time) and took that figure away from the total money made on the days......and glad to say it was a profitable year !!!! Didn't make loads of money - but it has made me determined to do some more next year.  I wont do the summer fetes as these didn't go well, but from September onwards will be worth doing.

I added up all the days that I was able to do a blog and it works out at 274 days out of 366 - so not bad......new years resolution is to do more crafting and therefore more blogs!!!

Finally I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!

Thanks for all your support over this past year.

Hope you all have a healthy and happy 2017. xxxxx

Results....

Morning all, a quick blog today. Yesterday went great. Each year group were allowed to come in separately. They were like a swarm of locusts........but in a good way lol!!!

The best results yet.

Off to London today to see Aladdin the musical- my Christmas treat from my son.

A FOXY CHARACTER......

Morning all,  bit late with the blog today, had to wait to get access to my craft room, where my laptop and camera are.

I'm doing my last craft fair of this year today. It's being held in a school, and the children will be allowed to come in gradually throughout the afternoon, and then the parents when school finishes.

I managed to complete this fox last night, so he will be on the stall today.
He was meant to be a Pyjama case, but i decided to make him into a soft toy instead. The pattern was from knittingbypost.
Tomorrow, I will be getting my Christmas present from my eldest son. He has paid for us to go to see Aladdin the musical show in London, followed by a champagne lunch. So I will be having a great day tomorrow.

Will try and report back on the craft fair before I go.

Have a good day and weekend ahead. xx

MAWTT Challenge: Christmas Scenes.....

Morning all, MAWTT Challenge today, and this time the theme is set by me !!
I want to see Christmas scenes.....day or night, anything that makes you feel Christmassy LOL !!

My card could be a winters scene.....crisp and cold. I printed this scene onto linen card to give more texture. Then I added a layer of snowdrop acetate and then cut a shape into white card to frame the whole picture. I've added white poinsettias and a snowflake swirl around the edge to give more depth.
Pop over to the MAWTT blog and enter a card yourself. It's just for fun, but I will pick out the top 3 next wednesday.

Have fun. x

Adjustments Have Been Made......

Morning all, a quick blog today, as I'm off Christmas shopping with my eldest son, whilst he is home.

I made this cushion for my friend and her partner for Christmas a little while ago. Whilst I was pleased with the result, I wasn't entirely happy with the lights or centre part. So I decided to cut some circles of felt and stitch them onto the cushion.

I had sewn the circles on, when "Him Indoors" pipes up....."you need the volkswagon logo on there" he says......

So I went onto google images and printed off a copy of the logo, which I used as a template to cut some white felt.

I must admit, it does look better than before.......but don't tell him that, I couldn't put up with the smug look on his face LOL !!!

As to the craft fair yesterday.....

It was held in a local primary school. I had done that one last year in the afternoon, when all the children could come in before breaking up for the day. This time it was in the evening for the parents to buy bits. It was very successful. I've got my last fair on Friday in another school. The afternoon the children will be allowed to come in and then after school for the parents. I will reduce things as the afternoon goes by, in an effort to sell everything. X

Gingerbread Man.....

Morning all, today is my wedding anniversary, and I will be going out to lunch with "him indoors" this lunchtime. Can't go out tonight......as I'm doing another craft fair !!!

Did well yesterday in a short space of time (2hrs). It's a monthly market in a community centre. I started doing it a few months ago, and generally haven't sold much, so was pleased yesterday.

Made this little gingerbread man on Sunday, but due to my son being home, and I couldn't go into his room, after tidying up, I had to leave the white ric-rac ribbon off his arms and legs (also couldn't find it - must have tidied it up somewhere LOL )

I knitted him on 4 needles....first time I'd done knitting like this....can't say I'm a huge fan of this knitting, but at least there was no sewing up to do afterwards. The body, arms and legs were knitting in one piece, then you had to pick up stitches around the neck for the head.

Will report back tomorrow on tonight's craft fair.

Report Back......

Morning, a quick blog today, reporting on yesterday.

Did quite well, although not as well as last week. Not many people - just a small trickle throughout the day.

Despite a load of interest, didn't sell my reindeers.....that'll teach me to get carried away and knit 2 more LOL !! Oh well, maybe today !!

Doing another one this morning.

Enjoy your day. x

And There's More !!!!!........

Morning all, I managed to do another knitted reindeer ready to sell today.
My fingers have been moving at lightening speed to knit these things....I've even started to knit another gingerbread man.

My son announced that he will be down today, instead of tomorrow....so I've had to whizz round with the hoover quickly before making his bed up.

Also today I'm doing a craft fair.....so I guess I will be exhausted by the end of today LOL !! Will let you know how it goes.
Bye for now x

More Reindeers.....of a different Kind !!

Morning all, a quick blog today, still busy sorting things out.....yesterday whizzed by so fast, that I didn't get half the things sorted that I had planned to !!

Anyway, I was recently in "the works" and saw this little reindeer kit, to make 2 reindeer decorations. It only cost £2, so I thought I would buy it and if it looked ok, maybe make some more different ones ie: snowman or Father Christmas.

Just circles of stiff felt, with a bead in between each circle then the shaped head on top.

Will put these on my craft stall tomorrow at £1.25 each, so hopefully will make a small profit !!

Enjoy your weekend. x

Sock Monkeys..........

Morning all, hope you are all well, happy and WARM !!! The weather has certainly turned now, definitely winter now.

I was asked to make 3 sock monkeys for a friend. When I bought the Christmas socks, they were in a pack of 5, so I decided to make all 5 to give my friend a choice, then hopefully I will sell the remaining 2 at my craft fairs.

I have a full week of craft fairs next week, starting on Sunday, then Monday morning, Tuesday evening & Friday afternoon. This will be the last of them for this year, so I will let you know the results if I can next week.

My eldest son is coming home on Monday for a week, so the craft room will have to be tidied ready for him. So I wont be doing much crafting in there next week !!

Have fun Christmas shopping x

Christmas Sleighs......

Morning all, well the countdown has started to the big day.....hope you're all on track to get everything done.
I made these sleighs a few years ago. I've had them on my craft shelf ever since, but as I'm doing craft fairs now, I decided to dust them off, buy some sweets and try to sell them.
I had only made 2 , one red & one gold. So I wont be too disappointed if they don't sell. My lot indoors, will soon devour the sweets over the festive period.
See you all again soon. x

Book Folding Christmas Display......

Morning all, well here we are the last day of November!!. Christmas rush begins now LOL !!!. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. So much still to do before the big day, including 4 more craft fairs !!!

Here is something that I have made to sell (but wont actually mind of I don't sell it !)

I did this book fold some time ago, and at the time just placed a bit of ribbon around the centre. Then I was thinking about table decorations. I had recently visited a garden centre that has a great Christmas section, and saw this battery operated snowman. He has a changing coloured light inside, so I thought he would  be perfect on top.

I've used Martha Stewart circle punches, to do 3 different coloured circles, which I then layered on top of the book fold. The snowman is just placed in the centre, because the on/off switch is underneath him.

Have a great day, and see you again very soon. x

2nd Reindeer Made.......

Morning all, a quick blog today, as I seem to be really busy at the moment. (like all of us !!)

Here is a second reindeer made. I decided to do a slight variation to the original pattern, in that I've knitted him so that he looks like he's got a red jumper on, rather than just a scarf.

I'm now in the process of making a third (out of the same 100gm ball of fawn wool), will probably to the original design again.

Thanks for popping by. x

Reporting Back........

Morning all, a quick blog today.......

Glad to report back that I did really well yesterday at the craft fair. We had an initial large amount of people in the first hour, then a smaller, but steady stream of people throughout the day. My reindeer that I showed yesterday was sold in the first half hour. So I am making another one now!!!

The local junior school also had a craft fair on the same day, but they were good enough to advertise our one too, so a lot of people seemed to go to both fairs.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Wrap up warm if you go out !!! X

Small Reindeer......

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy. Sorry haven't been around for a few days, but I've been busy making more bits for the craft fairs.

I'm doing one today, so I will report back tomorrow.

Here is a small knitted reindeer that I've done. The pattern is from knittingbypost, and he stands at about 12 inches high.

I've put a candy stick in his bag as an extra gift.

Hope he sells today, along with the tonnes and tonnes of stuff that I've made LOL !!
Enjoy your weekend. x

My Reindeer.......

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy......

......well here he is:- My Reindeer !!!!

He is soooooo soft and sooooo cuddly. I just love him to bits already!!
I finished him Sunday evening, whilst my husband was out fishing. When I went to bed, I took him with me, and put on the pillow beside me......my husband did a double take when he came to bed later LOL !!!. He said that the reindeer was watching him LOL !!
It's from a James C Brett pattern (JB405) using Flutterby chunky wool.

I got my son to take this photo of me on Sunday night, before I posted on facebook. It shows how big he is.

Thanks for popping by, and hopefully see you again very soon. x

Results.......

Morning all, a quick blog today, just to report back on the craft fair yesterday.

I had another good day, despite the chilly weather. I managed to take quite a bit, with a lady who is going to contact me regarding making some cards, and a man who is going to try and organise some craft fairs next year....but doesn't have any details yet.

The reindeer is coming along nicely, and will be finished today, ready to show tomorrow.

Bye for now. x

Another Project Finished.......

Morning all, hope your weekend is going great so far.

Today I am doing a craft fair in my local village hall. First time I've done one here, so I'm hoping people who know me from walking the dog, will come over and say hello, and maybe buy something......or at least know where they can come to if they need anything crafty done. Will let you know tomorrow how I got on.

Onto today's blog. I started this cushion on Tuesday and was able to finish it yesterday. It's going to be a Christmas present for a friend. I've made this before twice, once for my mum, and once for a friend, although I only did the outline of the camper van for my friends cushion.

The big "C" is approaching fast and I've done some Christmas shopping and have made a few bits.....how about you? are you on track for Christmas?

I'm now crocheting my reindeer, that I bought at Excel on Thursday......he is sooooooo soft and cuddly.......I can't wait to finish him and show you.

Bye for now. x

It's A Boy !!!

Morning all, well here we are again.....it's Friday !! Hope you've had a good week so far.

I went to Excel London yesterday for the hobbycrafts/stitching/crafts show. Had a really good time, as I wasn't going for anything in particular, just to have a look around. Came back with some bargains......woman's weekly had a couple of stands, the first stand were doing goody bags for a £5.00, which contained embroidery threads, wool, craft book, cross stitch kit, tapestry kit, crochet beanie hat kit, plus free samples of toothpaste, eye wash and shampoo (bit random) worth considerably more than £5.00. The second stall were selling magazines and books for £1.00 each. I bought 3 books:- crochet granny squares, Christmas jumpers & felt safari animals.  I also bought a large reindeer crochet kit for £13.00. Had a lovely time.

Onto today's blog. My friend Jenny has just become a granny for the first time, a little boy, so here is the card that I did for her. I've used winnie the pooh background paper, then using the tonic bear die, I've cut out in blue (for the outline) yellow to fill, and then red to create winnie the pooh's top. I also knitted a blue dummy, which I've attached to the card, but can be put on a cot or pram as a mobile.
Doing a craft fair on Sunday this week, so fingers crossed that I'll be as successful as last weekend.

Have a good weekend. x

That Looks Familiar....... !!!!!

Morning all, Question:- have you ever looked at someone's blog and thought "I've got all those dies and have never thought to do that"????

......well it happened to me !!! The very talented John Lockwood showed a card on his blog the other day.....and I had those exact thoughts .......of course I wanted to make a card too. So here is my version.

Almost identical to John's, but I didn't have the central circle bit, so my circles are different, and I haven't stamped inside, but instead, added a matching mauve felt flower.
Thanks for the inspiration John xx

John Lockwood's original design.......(and better photography too !!)
Have a look on John's blog either by clicking on his name at the side of this page or go to johnnextdoor.blogspot.co.uk

I did with check with John that it was ok to copy and show this today.... thanks John x
See you again soon. x

Gee Up Horsey .........

Morning all, another start to the week, and I hope you've all had a good weekend.

Here, is a stitched card that I've done for my cousin's birthday next week. She is a horse rider, so I thought I would do a horse themed card......(not original but I'm hoping she'll like it !)

I've used watercolour pencils to shade in-between the stitched part. I also have a set of small punches and I found this horse shaped one to use in the corners. The Sue Wilson Noble rectangles and the birthday sentiment completes this card.

Have a good day, and come back tomorrow for something completely different X

Christmas Mittens......

Morning all , a quick blog today..... here are some Christmas mittens tree decorations that I've done. They are only 3 inches long and were quick and simple to knit. The pattern was swiss darned after knitting.

As to the craft fair yesterday...... well Saturday morning here in Kent was a wash-out !! rain, rain & more rain....so that I thought will put people off. Went to the venue, which was a working man's club, found the organiser who showed us to the back room (snooker room) away from all the other stall holders !!!! Oh no I thought, this will be a disaster !!!  My friend and I had the snooker table to lay-out all our goodies, so plenty of room, but no other stall holders there in with us. They put a sign on the door-way saying other tables this way, but I didn't hold out much hope of a successful day. Also there were wasps that kept appearing above our heads....the landlord of the social club told us they had had a nest in the roof space (above our heads) and had the pest control round and sprayed the nest to disperse the wasps. Unfortunately no-one told the wasps that they were meant to be dispersed, and we had to kill quite a few who were nose-diving our display.

So we were all ready for the fair to start, and little by little people began to appear - some were scared off by the wasps.. but we had a steady stream of people all day !! The organisers were true to their word and kept sending people through to us, even the other stall holders were doing the same..........

........ and I have to say......it was the most profitable day I've had all year - HIP, HIP, HOORAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend and I both did really well, and one of the stall holders came in to tell us about another craft fair next month at a local school (and would we like a table ).... so a good result all round at last !!!

This has really lifted my spirits after such dismal results previously.

Have a good Sunday, thanks for popping by and listening to me drone on and on (wasp pun!!) and I'll see you again very soon. x

Frame for my Son.....

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy and enjoying your weekend so far. I'm doing a craft fair today, so will report back tomorrow on how it's gone.

My friend has told me about a computer programme called "tagxedo.com". This site allows you to create a shape and fill with words ....it then mixes the words up so that it fits into that shape. I've done the "batsignal" shape for my son Daniel (who is a big fan of batman). I've added all the characters, as well as his name. The printed it out and framed it. It will be a Christmas present for him.
A close up of the wording.

Enjoy your day x

2 Small Knitted baubles....

Morning all, well here we are again, It's Friday !!!!!!

A quick blog today, showing 2 smaller knitted baubles. The one above is just knitted in yellow wool, and then I've added some blue beads around the edge....
....and this one is just knitted with red, black & yellow wool.

I'm doing a craft fair tomorrow, and at the moment I'm trying to be positive about it, after the disappointment of the last fair.

Will let you know Sunday, how I got on.

Bye for now. x

MAWTT Challenge - "die cut numbers, letters or words".

Morning all, it's the moving along with the times challenge again today. It's been set by Judith, who wanted to see die cut numbers, letters or words.

This challenge was perfect for me, as my friends granddaughter was 13 yesterday.  I have a silhouette portrait cutting machine, so I was able to cut out the numbers, as well as her name "faith". I've used a Hunkydory backing paper, layered onto silver mirri card. I've used the same mirri card to cut out her name as well as the "happy birthday" which is a die by Robert Addams.

Pop over to mawtt blog to see the other design teams designs, and why not enter too, it's just for fun.

See you all very soon x

Fluffy Bauble Today......

Morning all, another knitted bauble today.....this time with an added trim of fluffy wool, that was knitted into the bauble.  A bit tricky to knit with, as the fluff gets in the way of seeing the stitch, but I managed ok.

These baubles are quick and easy to knit, whilst watching t.v.

Tomorrow is the MAWTT challenge, so please pop by and see what the challenge is. x

Nordic Bauble.....

Morning all, a quick blog today showing another knitted Christmas bauble. Simple to knit, I've used a polystyrene ball inside to stuff, rather than stuffing, as it keeps the shape better.

See you again very soon. x

Reindeer Bauble.....

Morning all, hope you all well & happy. Did you enjoy fireworks at the weekend?  We certainly heard a lot of them going off around our way in the lead up to 5TH November. Poor Rolo didn't enjoy them....he was anxious all the time and kept wanting to sit on our laps. He wanted to go out, but on Saturday night the local fishing club decided to take this opportunity and burn rubbish in their car park (which is behind our house).....the smoke was dreadful.  Sunday morning all the cars were covered in ash !!! good job it rained Sunday afternoon.

Anyway onto nicer things.... Here is a reindeer bauble that I have made. It came from a pattern to make a cuddle blanket (where you make the blanket and then have a toy in the middle of the blanket - normally just head and arms). I decided just to use the pattern for the reindeer head and create a Christmas bauble. I have stitched a smiling mouth on him....but his nose is so big you cant see it in the photo LOL !!

btw, I have now sewn eyes on the father Christmas!
Enjoy the start of a new week, I'm out to lunch today with my two best friends.x

Owl'll be seeing you at Christmas !!!!

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy....

Well here we are in November.....that means that Christmas is not very far away now. Have you started making your Christmas cards yet???? I think I've done enough....the ones to post anyway, still have the special family ones to do yet.

Decided to do some more knitting for my craft fairs.... this owl is knitted in moss stitch. He has his Christmas hat on at a jaunty angle.....but I think he looks like he's been on the sherry already ....and a little worse for wear !!!

What do you think?

Thanks for your feedback on the Father Christmas.....The general opinion was that he needs eyes....so I will sew some on soon.

Enjoy your day, thanks for popping by, and hopefully you will return again very soon. x

Father Christmas Tree Decoration.....

Morning all, a bit late with the blog today, sorry.
Picked up my son yesterday, from Heathrow Airport, so he is safely back at home with his mummy.....where he belongs LOL !!

When I picked him up, I knew he would be hungry (well he's a 24 year old boy....they are always hungry !!), so I did him a packed lunch that he could eat in the car in his way home......don't know if it was me or the packed lunch that he was pleased to see first LOL !! I also cooked him a roast dinner yesterday... what a good mummy I am.

Anyway, decided to start the mountain of washing today, rather than yesterday afternoon, so managed to do a little bit of crafting. So I knitted this father Christmas tree decoration. The pattern shows him without eyes, like I've done, but I think he needs eyes.....what do you think??

Photographed him against a black & a white background to see what looks best.

Thanks for popping by x
