MAWTT Challenge- "Come Dancing"

Morning all, challenge time again, this time set by Hazel. The theme is "come dancing".

I have chosen a ballerina.
I cut her out in the softest pink card that i had for her body, then again in a darker pink for her tutu and ballet shoes.

I then gathered up a small piece of pink netting and laid over the top of the skirt piece.
I put the words "A star is born" as i thought it might be a suitable card for a newborn baby girl. What do you think?

Pop over to the MAWTT blog to see the other DT entries, or why not enter yourself.

Thanks for popping by. x

All The Fun Of The Circus.....

Morning all, today is a birthday card for a little boy who's going to be 4.

I've made this circus themed card using papers from Trimcraft called "Fun Fair". included in the papers was a sheet of images, which i cut out and mounted onto black card.
The balloon dies are from Robert Addams (set of 3) & Taylored Expressions (set of 2 smaller). I've used peel-offs for his name and the number 4.

Enjoy the day.

P.S pop back tomorrow for the MAWTT challenge again. x

Another Giraffe is on her way.....

Morning all, I hope you are all well & not suffering from wind damage !!! If you are please go and see your doctor immediately LOL !!!
Joking aside, there seems to have been quite a bit of damage from fallen trees etc, so i hope you're all ok. We had a couple of ridge tiles fall off the roof. Luckily, my husband had gone fishing for the night (mad I know !!) so his van wasn't parked on the drive, otherwise it would have been hit by the ridge tiles.
I had a terrible night's sleep, as we sleep in the loft space, so there was no getting away from the noise.

Anyway, back to nicer things. I spent some of the bank holiday weekend making another giraffe. This is for one of the ladies in the craft group, who due to arthritus, can't knit so well now. It's for her great grandson, so i was happy to do it for her.

I have a Marianne Design die of a giraffe, so i cut it out in matching colours and stuck it on a tag with pink bakers twine for her to do a message.

Nearly at the end of another month, groan, but roll on summer, HOORAY !!!!

Have a good day. x

Time For Tea......

Morning all, the last week of March has arrived already.....time is really flying fast better unwind, slow down and have a nice cup of tea and relax !!!!.

Which brings me nicely to my card that i have made for a friends birthday soon.
I have photographed it with a white & a black background. As there is mirri card and pale colours involved, I do have trouble getting the photos right.
The background paper and topper are all from "Dovecraft - Cupcake Boutique"
This tea cup etc die i have cut out 4 times to go around the edge of the backing paper.
Again, you can't see too well, but I've put happy birthday using Robert Addams dies in pale pink next to the topper.
Have a good week, and thank you for stopping by. x

Using a Die as a Template.....

Morning all, and a very happy Easter Sunday.

For those of you who follow my blog regularly, you will have seen me making a bag using the Tonic dies. These bags are lovely but their dimensions are only 4 x 2 x 3.5 inches. Alright for a couple of little cream eggs, but not big enough for a proper easter egg !!!!.

So I use the dies as templates. I run each die piece off using white card. Then i marked off the score lines in a black pen. Then using my photocopier enlarged each piece until i was happy with the size. Because these dies are not intricate (apart from the centre panel piece, which i didn't use), i was able to cut out the template pieces quite easily.

I altered the top of the bag slightly, so that it was more boxier.  I also made my own buckle by using 2 rectangle layering dies together to make a frame and then adding a small strip across the centre. The strap across the top of the bag is just a strip of patterned card layered onto a plain piece of card. I then just shaped the end, so that it would feed through the buckle with ease.

The dimensions of this bag is now 7.5 x 3.5 x 5.5 inches.
Have a brilliant day......and don't eat all your Easter eggs in one go......make then last !!!! xx

Happy Easter.......

Happy Easter to you all.....hope you haven't started eating the chocolate eggs already LOL !!!

I stitched this card in really bright and vibrant colours. I'm not sure where i got the backing paper from, but it matched beautifully.

Layered onto some bright green card stock, I've used Sue Wilson, Noble dies to add the stitched look around the edge.

The flowers were from the poundshop....I've just cut the backs down a bit so that the flowers would lay a little flatter.
Enjoy your day. x

Ideal Home Show......

Morning all, had a fab day at the show on Wednesday. Being at Olympia it was a big show, in fact, i think it's too big. There's so much to see and sample (food, wine etc) that you need at least 2 days to see everything !!.

It's laid out in zones, with the show houses in the centre ..... didn't think much of the decor in any of the 3 show homes, in fact my friend and I found faults with them all !!! (not easily pleased you will probably be saying LOL !!).

The money that you could easily spend there is amazing.....we liked some shower/bath/home entertainment system pods......for only £3000.00 +, a lovely hot-tub, a great kitchen (daren't asked for the price) and a lodge for the garden complete with loungers, tv, cocktail bar etc etc..... Brought home lots of leaflets and almost gave my husband a heart attack, when he thumbed through them LOL !!!. Oh what it must be like to be mega rich.. never mind one day Rodney, we'll be millionaires LOL !!!!!

Have a great bank holiday weekend, shame the weather's not going to be up to much.....I'll just have to craft. x

Display Box for the Tonic Handbag...

Morning all, another quick blog.  I have made a display box for the handbag that i made the other day (using a friend's Tonic die).

I've used acetate for the sides, and matching card for the base & lid.

Enjoy your day. x

Off Out Today......

Morning all, today I'm going to the ideal home show. I haven't been for years, the last time i went it was held at Earls Court LOL. I'm going with a friend, who has never been, so should be a good day out for us both.

Will report on what it was like tomorrow, (if not too tired when i get home).

Another "SMALL" Christmas Card .....

Morning all, another quick blog, as nothing exciting to report LOL !!!

Here, I have made another small Christmas Card. Just 6 x 6 with little embellishments to save on postage. A stitched pattern in a multi coloured thread, LOTV topper and small holly leaves (from a pack of table confetti).

Backing paper completes this quick card.

This is Rolo, laying in the most awkwardest place you can think of, and he wont move out of the way, I just have to take my life in my hands and try to step over him. I think he likes to lay here, because he can keep an eye on all of us, upstairs or down.
It's a good job that I love him. xx

Rennie Mackintosh Inspired.....

 Morning all, Monday again.....groan !!!!!

Just a quick blog today.

Here is a stitched card that although is more art noveau, I thought it teamed up well with the art deco background paper and corner die (which is very Rennie Mackintosh).

Sorry that the above photo is a bit darker than the bottom one, don't know why when it was seconds between each shot.

I added small flowers on the shaped top piece of the card, with little pearls in the centre.
Have a good day. x

Owl Door Stop.....

Morning all, hope you're having a good weekend so far.

I was given this kit for Christmas, by a friend who knows I like Owls. All the components were in the kit. I just had to sew it together.

It's supposed to look a bit wonky..... I think that's the charm of him LOL !!!

The side view.
Although he's supposed to be a door stop, there was only normal toy stuffing in the kit, so he isn't very heavy. So I will have him sitting on my desk in my craft room.

Have a lovely day, thanks for taking time to view my blog, and I will hopefully see you all again very soon. x

A Couple of old bags !!!!!

Morning all, have I got your attention with the heading today??? LOL !!!

These are actually new bags, not old, but wouldn't have had the same impact if I had said a couple of new bags.....would it?

Both these bags have been made using the tonic handbag die (belonging to a friend). I decided to do two styles.
The first, is a normal handbag, with a slot closure at the top and handles. Size approx 4 x 2 x 5 inches.
The second, is a clutch bag, with a fold over top and a ribbon tie. Size approx 4 x 2 x 2.5 inches.
Side view of both. These would make lovely easter egg bags to hold cream eggs or something similar, or as wedding favours on the tables, or even as small Christmas tree presents. The choice is all yours......

Have a fab weekend. xx

Half Way Through, and Still Going Strong......!!!!

Morning all, an update today about my cross stitch.......I'm now HALF WAY DONE Hooray !!!!!

I've tried to do a little bit each day, otherwise it's going to take years to complete LOL !!! It doesn't look straight across the top in the photo, but it is, I just need to tighten the tension again.

For those of you guessed a reindeer, when i had completed the first quarter, then well done, you are correct.

I think I'll do the top right bit next, which is the rest of the reindeer, as there doesn't seem to be a lot of stitching on that. Then i will have to prepare myself for the last quarter, which has a lot of colour changes in small areas, which is a nightmare.

Of course, I will still have the top stitching to do, but I will leave that until the very last, as that really completes the work.

Oh, and before I forget, "Happy St Patricks Day" for any Irish followers x

Have a good day, weekend approaching again. xx

A Christmas Card ..... already ????....
Morning all, well yes, it has to be done....starting the Christmas cards already. LOL !!!!

I recently bought the "Crafters Companion" birthday die, where you inked through the die to show the detail. I had used gel pens to have a finer line and was pleased with the result. I bought the die at one of the craft shows for £15.00 and was happy to pay that amount..........

Well, i looked at the Crafters Companion website and they had this Christmas one for £7.50 !!!!! what a bargain, so couldn't resist and ordered it.

Here it is done on Christmas green card, and using a gold gel pen to highlight the design.

I've backed it onto gold mirri card (hence the peculiar angle in which I've photographed the card LOL ). Then onto cream paper with gold stars on.
Really turned out well, and again a useful card to do batch making. I can see making these in all colours.
A closer look at the middle section.

Have a good day and "MERRY CHRISTMAS" HA, HA, HA (instead of HO, HO, HO!!!). x

Last Of The Stash.....

Morning all, another day and another card using the Hunkydory kit.
I must confess that I'm not too happy with this card.
It's too busy and the colours trouble me too.
I think the problem is that the background paper has two main colours, a pinky peach & a bluey mauve. I don't think these colours work well together, but i tried to accommodate them both with the extras that i've added
I've used pink & mauve mirri card for the trellis and butterflies.
Please let me know your suggestions as to how i can improve this card (even if it's "start again" lol )

BTW, re the die used yesterday, the size of the card is 9.25 x 7 inches, but the dies come in larger & smaller sizes then I've used, the largest being 11.5 x 7.5 inches and the smallest 0.5 x 1 inch.

Have a good day. x

Lovely in Lavender.......
Morning all, hope you all had a good weekend and ready to face the week ahead????

This mornings card, is another one using the book die (borrowed from a friend).
I did say that i really like this die, so will be making loads LOL !!!!

I'm still using the bits and bobs left from the Hunkydory kit. But this time i have added a LOTV topper, and Phil Martin die for the sentiment.
Have a good day, thanks for popping by & see you all again very soon. x

A Labour of Love.......

Morning all, the title of this blog says it all !!!!!
This book folding project has taken me weeks to do (off & on) as there were nearly 500 pages to mark, cut & fold.

It's for my parents anniversary at the end of the month, and although not a special celebration, it's something that could be on display all the time, as it's the date of their wedding.
I've inked over the edges, so that the wording stands out more. Red is the colour scheme in their lounge, so combined with black makes a striking display.

Luckily for me, i had 2 glittery butterflies to match.
No decorations on the back of the book, as you wont see that when it's in their glass cabinet, but I've just covered with embossed cream card. Did the same on the spine too.

Enjoy your Sunday. xx

A Good Book To Read........

Morning all, well here we are again at the weekend, doesn't the week just fly by??

The good thing about crafting with friends, is that you get to use all their stuff LOL !!!!!

I go around a friends house on a Wednesday evening, with 2 other friends, to do some crafting, have a laugh (lots of) and have a cuppa.

This Tattered lace book die, belongs to one of them, they have very kindly let me borrow it until next look out for loads of blogs with this die used LOL !!!!!

I am continuing to use up the hunkydory gift set, that i got  few weeks ago, free in a magazine.
Apart from the card blank and the layering cards, it's all from the kit.
I even used a topper as the sentiment inside.

When i first saw this die on c&c, i thought to myself, that i would hardly use it, but since using it, i can see me requesting this as a birthday present from one of my boys. (well one can live in hope, can't one????).

Enjoy your day. x
