Multi-Coloured Card !!!!
Morning all, well the last day of April today, another month that has flown by!!
I stitched this card using a multi-coloured thread. The thread contained blue, pink, green & orange. I then used a lilac thread below the coloured row at top, bottom & sides, and a darker mauve thread across the corners.
Once i had done the stitching, i then had to try and find something that would go with it LOL !!!.
I must remember to choose my topper, before i choose my thread !!
Anyhow, I looked through my LOTV topper pads and found this image. I used an octagon die to cut the shape, and then a sharpie pen to ink around the edges.
This tied in the blue of the thread together with the image and the sharpie pen.
I then used a corner punch in the corner of the stitched piece, and the layering blue piece. I found this small multi coloured dotty paper in my stash (i think was a freebie in a magazine). I used an orange sharpie pen to draw a border around the edge, to try and tie in with the orange thread. I used different coloured gems on each corner, as well as a yellow gem on the flower in the topper. It might look a bit too busy for some of you..... haven't quite decided if it's ok or not !! Have a good weekend, let's hope the weather improves for the bank holiday Monday. x
Morning all, hope you are all well & happy....... Today I have a little knitted bee to show you. It's from a Jean Greenhowe pattern and this is the mummy.... (baby being knitted today). It's using the left over wool from when i knitted the teddy bears.
Bees are our friends, because, without them, our plants wouldn't be pollenated, and then we'd have no plants or crops.... So love a Bee !!!!
Morning all, MAWTT Challenge here again. Today it's been set by Lena. Quite a hard challenge i think today, as everyone can remember the eighties.....big hair, leotards in lycra, disco dancing etc, etc. I looked on google for inspirational images and found these two. The neon sign is very 80's and the rubiks cube...... reminds me of that time. I coloured in the rubiks cube, with my pro-markers and deliberately, coloured one of the squares on the red panel blue. As that sums up how good i was at completing the cube.....just as i thought I'd cracked it, I would notice a square that was in the wrong place LOL !!!!
I just used my ink pads and made splodges and lines across the plain card blank, as i seem to recall there were weird patterns about.
Why don't you have a go and enter a card into the challenge. You can find all the details along with the other design team entries here. MAWTT
Morning all, and a warm welcome to Zoe & Patricia, that have popped over from Hazel's and joined me. I hope you like my efforts !! Today I have used another of my new dies, my scottie dog. It's from Go Kreate no:575042. He's only small 5 x 4.5 cms, but I love him !!! (don't tell Rolo LOL !!) I have used him as the finishing part of this card. The background is Sue Wilson Die "Petite Striplet - Tiled Squares". This die i cut out 4 times on one piece of black card. Then i stuck it onto a double sided sticky sheet, and covered with gilding flakes. Once rubbed down the die part comes to the foreground, whilst the stained glass effect is in the background. Then I took the back protective sheet off the double sided sheet and stuck to the gold mirri card. I have used the Sue Wilson Noble Squares to cut a final frame. I stuck the scottie dog onto the front and coloured in his collar with a gold gel pen.
Moving along with the times challenge again tomorrow, so I hope you can join me then. x
Morning all, here is a little sample of the new stencil that I bought on Sunday. It's a metal stencil from Sweet Poppy. It's quite large, measuring at 14.5 x 19.5 cms. I used a magnetic sheet behind the card and stencil to help achieve a better result. The stencil "sticks" to the magnetic sheet through the card, so that it doesn't lift when using. I used Sweet Poppy Glossy White paste, then lifted off the stencil and sprinkled with some cosmic shimmer mica powders. I used a heat gun and heated from behind the card to start with (to stop the powders blowing away). Then i heated from above and this made the white paste "bubble up" creating a good texture.
Once dried, i used a tissue to buff the area, making the mica powders shine. You cant really see from the photo.
A lovely result. I will try some different techniques next time, so please pop by often. See you soon, and thanks for visiting. xx
Morning all, here is baby bear.....he is only 2.5 inches tall (in the sitting position). All 3 bears only took 100 grams of DK wool. Here is the whole family together.
A cute family.. don't you agree. I'm thinking about adding a tie to daddy bear and maybe put them in a display case.....watch this space as they say !!!
Had a good time at Sincerely Yours craft show yesterday. Quite a small show with just over 20 stalls there. Good selection though, with Robert Addams, Honey Doo Crafts, Sweet Poppy Stencils, Anna Marie Designs, to name but a few.
Here is what I bought.
The oval dies have a stitched edge to them, which will go great with my stitched cards. I did buy paper inserts and some card from Anna Marie, but that's a boring photo LOL !!! The little scottie dog and the Christmas robin are really sweet ...... Haven't played with them yet. Will try today...with a bit of luck.
Morning all, happy Sunday to you all.... a quick scheduled blog today as i'm at a craft show this morning. Here is Mummy bear. Knitted the same way as daddy bear (yesterday), but scaled down a bit. I've added flowers on here head and wrist. The patterns are all from "Jean Greenhowe". I've had these patterns for years, since my boys were tiny. The patterns are still as great and fresh now as they were then. See you tomorrow for baby. x
Morning all, question..... "What happened to Spring?"..... it's turned really cold ! Need to snuggle up to a cute teddy..... Here is Daddy bear....unfortunately he is only 5 inches tall (in the sitting position) so not much to snuggle up to lol !! I've made him for the craft stall.... watch this space for the rest of his family soon !!!! Enjoy your weekend, I'm hoping to go to the "Sincerely yours" craft show tomorrow at Maidstone in Kent. It's run by a company called "Oyster Stamps", and normally it has a good mix of craft stalls.....but not too big or busy. Will let you know how I get on. Bye for now. x
Morning all, Friday again.... Yesterday, was my friend Grace's birthday. She has a cat, and although it's her cat, it seems to favour her husband more, so she says, but i bet her cat loves her just as much, as she is a lovely lady. So here is my card for her. The cat in the centre is a Marianne die. Placed onto a red heart, and then layered onto monchrome patterned paper and a red cardstock. The sentiment and the decorations around the edges are peel-offs. I had bought them years ago, and like most of us.....never used them. But they are purrrfect for this card LOL !!!
Inside i have used Phil Martin dies and more peel-offs.
A little row of cat paws. Hope she likes the card. It's funny how black & white goes so well with red. Black & white does go with most colours, but i feel red is the best combination.....what do you think? Have a good weekend.x
Morning all. A stitched card today.....not done as much stitching on cards as I would like....other things seem to get in the way !! With this stitched card, I have used Sue Wilson Noble Rectangle die, to have a dotted border. Then i have used the new Sue Wilson Shadow Box collection - stitched lattice frames, to add a more stitched feel to the card.
I moved the lattice die across the card stock to get a larger piece, so instead of using the die that came in the set, i have used the noble rectangle again, to give 2 stitched effects.
There seems to be a load of dies now that have a stitched angle to them..... they go so well with my stitched cards i might just have to buy some more !! There goes the bank balance LOL !!! Have a good day. x
Morning all, a start to another week. If you are working, hope you have a good week. Here are some more felt teddies that I've made, using the Marianne Designs die. Made from felt, ready for my craft fair next month. I used a black permanent marker pen for their smiles, except for the white bear, when i used a white pen. Hope the children will love them and buy them !!! That's all for now. Thanks for taking the time to view my blog. x
Morning all, hope you are all well & happy. A book folding project today. This is the first time I've made one to order. Once I had got the correct spelling and had folded it, it was time to decorate. It's for a 20 something girl, and the only information that I was given was that she liked peach colours !!!! Not a lot to go on!!! Well i looked through my papers etc.....no peachy colours to be found....not even a bit of ribbon LOL !!! I used a soft taupe coloured card for the inside panels.
So I thought I would have a look at wallpapers. I went into the local B&Q store and found this piece......not as peachy as I would like, but not too bad. I took a small sample (large enough to cover the book !!).
Then had to go to Hobbycraft for some flowers and ribbon. I had ordered the tattered lace pick of the day that was on offer on Tuesday night. I have cut this piece out using the same taupe card. But, i have now sent the dies back to C&C, because, although beautiful dies, they don't cut out in one piece......parts of the die don't have a cut line, so that you can keep them in the card.....so i had to trim the piece before i could get it out in one piece. Normally die companies give you an additional die to create a complete cut line, so that you have a choice.
The back of the card..... Just hope the customer likes it !!!! Have a good day and see you again soon. x
Morning all, Friday here again, my how the days fly by..... I don't think anyone who crafts has not heard of the "Groovi plates". Loads of my friends are totally hooked on this new craft sensation, and have bought loads of groovi plates. That's lucky for me, as i can borrow theirs !!!!!! I meet up on a Wednesday evening with 3 other friends for a crafting session. This Wednesday, after they had gone to Ally Pally, we had an evening doing Groovi..... I must admit, for some reason, it doesn't seem to be my "thing". We all are different, that's what makes the world go around....as they say. Anyhow, i joined in and did this lovely bird. I have used my promarkers to colour in from the back of the piece, so that the white still shows through strong on the front.
My friend Sally, who used to do parchment, had all the tools of the trade, so I was able to do a fancy edge around the picture. I know that normally you would use scissors to then cut it out, but I decided to leave it as a pattern around the edge. I then used the Sue Wilson Noble die to cut a bigger frame around the piece. I have mounted it onto white card, by using photo corners in pink, that i have had for ages.
I enjoyed doing this, on this occasion, but I don't think I will be buying any Groovi plates...... I will just borrow them again from my friends LOL !!!
Have a good weekend. Hope the weather stays nice for you. If it's raining, you'll just have to stay in and craft !!!!! x
Morning all, half way through the week now.... looking forward to the weekend. Have to report that my youngest son, didn't have food poisoning, as we first thought, but a bug. My eldest son suffered too when he went home, and was off work Monday & Tuesday. I'm just waiting for it to get me and my husband. On to nicer things....... .......here is a felt teddy bear that i have done, ready for the craft fairs. It's made using a Marianne Designs die. It stands at 4 inches high. I cut the main piece out twice and first glued and put a small stitch in each of the pieces on the front, paws, heart, ears etc. Then using blanket stitch sewed the two pieces together, adding stuffing as i went along. I aim to make different coloured ones, some will be key-rings, others just a small toy. Could also be used on book folding projects, as decorations. Talking about book folding, I'm halfway through a book fold requested by a friend, for her daughter in law's birthday next week. Will show photos once completed. Weather seems to be trying to improve, with some sunny spells. Hope the weather is good where you are today.x
Morning all, hope you are all well & happy. Thank you for all the best wishes for my son, who has been ill. He went back to work yesterday, and is feeling a lot better. A valuable lesson learnt, i think, as he will always make sure that re-heated food is piping hot next time. Back to today's blog. I have made this little felt scottie dog. I remember making something very similar to this, when i was in the last year of my infants school and we were taught how to sew. It only comprises of 5 pieces, and sews up quite quickly. I did the sewing Sunday night, whilst watching t.v. It will go with the other small bits & pieces that I've made, ready to do craft fairs this year. I'm only making things that I like......so might have quite a few owl things by the time I've finished. Have a good day, and thanks for stopping by.x
Not a Good Weekend..... Morning all, hope you are all well & happy. Hope those of you who went to ally pally, had a great time.....let me know what you thought of it and more importantly.....what you bought LOL !!!!! My eldest son arrived Friday night as planned. We all went to bed all ok, but during the night Gary, the birthday boy, was sick several times. We think it's a touch of food poisoning, because Thursday night he was on lates, but when he came home he didn't want his dinner that I had left in the fridge, so he decided to heat it up on Friday. We now think he hadn't heated it enough to kill any bacteria, hence the sickness.
Spent Saturday in bed, not eating & feeling rough. So he had to cancel his challenge that he was due to do with his brother, and we had to cancel going out for a meal too. My eldest is going back home today. We'll just have to do a going out together family meal next time he comes home. Haven't done any crafting, apart from a little more cross stitch. Coming along nicely now....not long before I've completed 3 quarters.... Have a got a few knitting projects lined up that I'm itching to start, as well as a 5d diamond picture, and of course some card making. Have a great day. Enjoy your Sunday x
Morning all, Saturday here again. Going out for a meal tonight with my husband & my 2 boys to celebrate Gary's Birthday yesterday. Daniel, my eldest, didn't arrive until late last night so we booked at table for tonight.
They are both doing a 10k challenge race today at Tonbridge, so they will be "plum-tuckered-out" tonight LOL !!!
On to today's card. I did some stencilling onto velvet paper using a thick silvery paste (can't remember the make) some time ago, and come across it by chance the other day. How many times do we do this??? Anyway, i looked at it with fresh eyes and was quite pleased how it looked, so decided to make into a card. It's such a beautiful blue velvet and with the silver looks quite stylish. Kept the design simple, just layered onto silver mirri card & blue card stock, using Sue Wilson Noble die. (did i mention that it's my fav die at the moment LOL ??)
The sentiment on the front is a plastic bar with "happy birthday" etched onto it. I've had it for ages and it never seemed the right thing to add to a card before now. I had some silver ribbon that i've added at each end, this is also where i've stuck it down, as i didn't want tape or glue showing behind the plastic.
Phil Martin sentiment die inside, with the hearts cut out of the silver ribbon (which was more like tape as it didn't fray). Have a great day, whatever you are doing, and thanks for stopping by. x
For My Son, Who looks very similar to the image........
Morning all. Today is my youngest son's birthday. He is 24 years old, but will always be my baby.... LOL!!! He has been body building for nearly 2 years now, and last year qualified as a "Powerwave" instructor..........It's alright if you don't know what a powerwave is, i never did until he brought the equipment home. If you look at the bottom photo, it shows a sort of bag with handles attached. They are very heavy, and you exercise with them to increase your strength and shape. I've had a go at the smallest bag, and just about survived the session LOL !!! Anyhow he is not far off looking like this image (which i found on google images.....amazing what you can find to look at !!!!!). I printed it off and chopped off the head, and transplanted my son's head.
He is a great son, and has a good sense of humour, so hopefully he will see the funny side of this card.
A "powerwave" bag. My eldest son will be down today to spend the weekend with us, to celebrate his birthday. Just a quick note about Excel... not as much as previous years. Only card stalls there were selling Tonic or tattered lace dies (funny that when Hochanda is doing ally pally!!!!). There were a variety of other stalls selling wool, material, beads, glitters, Debbie Moore book folding & cds, sweets?, and also some parchment tools and Clarity groovi plates...(not many). Still had an enjoyable day out. This is what I bought, about £38.
Have a good weekend all of you, whatever you are doing. xx
Morning all, I have scheduled this blog this morning, as I am on my way to Excel for the craft show. I recently bought this die from Crafters Companion, and thought it would be ideal for making smaller Christmas cards & also to do batch cards. Here are the first 4 that I've done. All the same but in different colours.
Although the die is in one piece, the centre square comes out. All these cards have been cut directly onto the card blank, so each separate square I have place inside the card. I will do some more at a later time where it's all on the front.
I stuck the silver one onto silver mirri card.
This is a purple glitter gel pen, you can see it sparkle above.
and finally gold.
I used a fine gel pen on each of these cards as the fine tip went into the die easily.
I'm well on my way to having all my Christmas cards done......Just need to do the "big" family & friends ones....
