Happy Birthday Daniel.....

Morning all, today is my eldest son, Daniel, Birthday. He is 27 years old today and has loved Batman since the age of 2 years old. I've made this pop up twist card for him, using the Tattered Lace die (borrowed from a friend). Must say it makes it much easier to use and it fits into any size card. This is a 7 x 7 card. The wording was created using the Sihouette Portrait machine. I was able to use any font and make it any size.
Inside the twist card. Images of Batman through the years....1960's T.V programme, cartoon from the 1980's, Film, and finally Lego Batman movie that's on at the cinema at the moment. I went to watch it last week, and really enjoyed it !!

I found some shop bought wrapping paper with the "fighting words" that was shown during the 1960's T.V show. So I cut them out and added them, along with a few stars onto the card.
Must say, I'm really pleased with the result. I'm taking Daniel to "The Art of Brick" exhibition this week, as a birthday treat. It has lego brick sculptures of the DC comic heroes.

A couple of photos of Daniel, aged about 5 (above) and about 18 (below).....I made the costume above for him, and the cloak below.....he really does like Batman LOL !!!!
By for now. x

V.W CAMPER-VAN CUSHIONS.......

Morning all, hope your weekend is going great so far. I'm expecting my eldest son to arrive home today for a week, as it's his birthday on Tuesday (pop by and see the card that I've made him).

Have been knitting these last few days, and have just finished these two VW Camper-van cushions. Easy to knit, with the details sewn on afterwards. Like the large VW camper - van cushion that I've done before, I did the headlights, tail-lights and VW sign in felt.

Not too big at 11.5 x 9.5 inches, I cut up an old duvet into the shape, 3 times per cushion, to give a firmer shape, rather than use ordinary toy stuffing to fill.
Will try and add more to the blog this week (if I can get into craft room), so watch this space !!

Good Day Out".........

Morning all, a quick blog today, to report back on yesterday.

I had never been to the craft show at Farnborough, but throughly enjoyed the day. A good combination of stalls, with paper crafts, wool, fabrics, beads, mdf etc etc etc.
The "hall" was large, with loads of space between aisle, plenty of seating at lunchtime, a cloakroom for coats and bags and good car parking spaces.

Bought a few things..... a couple of dies, red tape, some magazines that were reduced, a knitting pattern and wool. Not too much money spent !!

Saw John Lockwood on "the art of craft" stand, demoing. Lovely to see him again.

Will definitely go again.

See you again soon x

Paper Roses......with a difference....

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy today.

After the disaster of yesterday's blog.....here is a success !!

Crepe paper roses. The difference is that they have a lolly-pop covered in the centre of each rose.

I saw something on you tube, but using ferrero rocher chocolates inside the rose, but as I want to sell them at my craft fairs I decided against using these, as I would have had to label each rose "may contain nuts". Using a lolly-pop also gave me the stem to glue the rose to.
I bought the crepe paper from "Rymans"- but I have to say it was rather a poor quality crepe paper. There wasn't many wrinkles in the paper, as you would expect. So that made it harder to shape. Also the paper was very thin, and at the beginning I had to throw a few bits away, as the paper had ripped.
Tomorrow I'm off to the Farnborough Craft Show. Hoping to say hello to John Lockwood on the "Art of Crafts stall. I haven't been to that show before, so am looking forward to seeing what's there.

Will try and report back at the weekend, but my eldest is coming home again for a week (as it's his birthday on Tuesday), so will be busy tidying up the craft room.

Bye for now. x

It's A Dissssaaassster Darling !!!......

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy. The end of the week is fast approaching now, and wont be long until the weekend arrives.

Have you ever looked on pinterest for ideas????

Well I often look, and recently saw this:-

What a great idea ...... I thought.....I must have a go at that........

So I got prepared......balloon - check, string - check, chocolate eggs - check, glue - check....right all prepared........

Got covered in glue in the process, but managed to achieve an egg shaped balloon. Hung up to dry........

The Next Morning:-........

Somehow in the drying process my balloon shriveled up leaving this wonderful shape (not LOL !!)
Whilst trying to get the balloon out, the spaces opened up and you've guessed it..........
......the eggs fell out LOL !!!!

Wont be trying that again !!!!!!

Oh well onwards and upwards I guess. x

....and another lamb, this time in green and grey/silver.
I'm in the process of making crepe paper roses for Mother's Day, so as soon as i've done some I'll show them on the blog.

Baby Blues.....

Morning all, hope your weekend is going well so far.

I was asked to knit a couple of baby cardigans for a friend of mine, who has recently become a grandmother for the first time.

I forgot to take a photo of the first one, but here is the second one !!
I ran out of wool for the last 2 rows of border band, so I decided to add white to the cardigan. Once I had finished doing the border, I used a crochet hook and just did a small crochet edging to the bottom of the cardigan to complete the look.
Hope she likes it !!

Bye for now. x

MAWTT Challenge- For A Man.....

Morning all, it's that time again ....the Moving along with the times challenge. This month it's set by Beckie, who wants to see a card for a man. Always a difficult subject....as they are so awkward to make for - why can't they just like butterflies and flowers ???

Anyway this is my entry.
I have some dies that are just right for a man's card. The papers are from doocrafts. I made a shirt and tie out of the papers and placed onto another sheet from the pack.

Pop over to MAWTT to see the other DT entries....or why not enter a card yourself.

Bye for now x

Wedding Invitations......

Morning all, hope you all had a good weekend and are ready to face another week.

Thankfully the snow soon disappeared here in Kent. Hope it is the same where you are.

This is the wedding Invitations that I've been making. A very simple design, but making 46 cards is so time consuming !!! Also I didn't realise just how much red tape I would use in making these cards. I was worried about things becoming un-stuck, so decided to use red tape for all the front. Went through about 4 rolls !!.
As you are reading this, I will probably rushing to the shops to buy more ribbon for the bows on the front of the card, plus these photo mounts.... as run out of both.
I did say that they would be ready for collection today, but it will have to be tomorrow instead.

I don't think I'll do anymore, even if asked, as they take up so much manual hours to complete. You cannot charge for your time, as it would make the price too expensive. I've covered the cost of making them, and have just got a profit of under £20.00. Also making the same card over, and over again is sooooooo boring !!

See you soon. x

Easter Chick(en in basket) YUM YUM !!

Morning all, hope you are all cosy and warm ..... and not snowed in !!!
Had some snow yesterday, but hopefully no more today.

Here is the second Easter basket that I've crocheted. I did the basket using two strands of yarn (white and lime green). It gives a good effect for the basket.
The Easter Chick and egg are crochet in Double knit wool. The pattern is from Janine Holmes, and is really easy to follow.
Still working away at the invitations....Hopefully will finish today. x

Two More Spring Lambs.......

Morning all, I'm a little late with the blog again today (sorry!!).

I've managed to knit two more lambs using my own stash of wool. No stained fingers this time LOL !!.

I've used King Cole tinsel plus some oddments of Double Knit wool.
I'm pleased to say that in the post today, I received some replacement wool for the purple lamb that I knitted from a magazine. Very pleased that the magazine company responded so quickly to rectify the problem. So I'll be knitting another lamb very soon.

This weekend, I have to concentrate on making the wedding invitations. It's gone from 30 to 46 now !! So its "heads down and working" for me this weekend.

I will show a photo of the finished items asap.

Bye for now x

See you soon. x

Easter Bunny in a bag (not cooked !!)

Hi everyone, very late with the blog today.....the cold that hubby gave me took effect and made me lay low for a few days. Glad to say I'm feeling a lot better now.

Made this crochet Easter bunny on a crochet bag for the craft fairs. Basket is crocheted in chunky wool (or double knit wool - doubled ) and the bunny in double knit wool. Crochet is so fast and effective, I'm beginning to enjoy doing crochet more than knitting now. The original pattern had the bottom of the bag crochet using chunky plus tinsel wool, but I decided to have it plain. I have added a small bit of tinsel below the bunny, just to add a bit of interest, and also to make the bunny look more nestled into the bag. For the eyes, the pattern stated using safety eyes. I didn't have any, and I didn't want to add beads, so I cut 2 circles of felt and added the coloured glue in white pearl in the centre of each eye.

Did another craft fair on Monday morning at a local community hall, and sold my VW cushion, the chick holding the chocolate eggs and 2 valentines cards, so was really pleased.

No more craft fairs until start of March, so that will give me a bit more time to make things.

I've also been asked to make 30 wedding invitations for a friend's friend, so i'm in the process of coming up with a few samples and costs for her. Luckily she sent me a photo of what she would like (a simple card - thank god !!). I will post the final choice once she has chosen.

BTW, i emailed the magazine, that had supplied the kit for the lamb, where the dye had come off on my hands whilst knitting. They emailed me back the next day, full of apologies and are sending me some replacement wool, so I guess they must have had quite a few complaints. Sometimes it pays to complain !! I'm going to keep the lamb for myself, as I couldn't sell it anyone knowing the dye comes off, especially if a child wanted it.

Bye for now. x

Spring is on It's Way !!......

Morning all, I hope you are well & happy at the start of the weekend.

Hopefully spring WILL soon be here, and the sun will be shining.

Knitted this cute little spring lamb yesterday afternoon/evening. It came free with a magazine and was easy to knit.

However, the sparkly purple wool left my hands covered in a pink dye !! You can just about make out the stained fingertips and thumb. When I first noticed the staining I had just about finished knitting the body, so I had to continue. Hopefully it will fade over the weekend LOL !!!

The craft fair yesterday was ok too. I managed to sell a few bits and bobs, which more than covered the cost of the table. First time we had done this one. It's a weekly market, but you don't have to do weekly, you can do weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We've decided to monthly, to see how it goes throughout the year.
It had a nice friendly atmosphere, with a lot of customers coming in for coffee and a chat with friends and neighbours.

Bad news !!!! I woke up yesterday  morning with a sore throat again !!!! Couldn't believe that I've got another cold so soon after Christmas. I think I've only felt good for a couple of weeks so far this year. Of course, I blamed my husband......I knew I should have left him to suffer in silence and I should have gone out and about like I planned last week LOL !!. Dosed myself up with "day nurse" & "night nurse" yesterday and my sore throat seems to be better, although I still feel a bit rough (and probably look the same !!).

Oh well, carry on.....stiff upper lip and all that !!
See you again soon. x

1st Craft Fair of the Year.....

Morning all, a quick blog this morning. I'm doing a craft fair this morning at a local county market. It will be once a month, if successful, so I thought I would make a couple of valentine cards....just to see if they sell.
 Both pop-up ones.

Designs very simple....but I hope will appeal to all.
Will let you know tomorrow, how I got on. x
