Daniel's  Birthday............

Morning all, a quick blog today. It's my eldest sons birthday today. Here is the card that I made for him, using my left hand only !! LOL !!

The sentiment and stars are dies that I bought from Ali-express. The large star die below was Sue Wilson. The papers are from "making cards" magazine.

Update......

Morning all, hope your weekend has been good so far.

I would like to thank you all for your kind wishes. My shoulder is starting to feel slightly better and I have some movement back.

Hubby has been a star, in taking over all the household duties (except ironing!!), and has looked after me well.

My eldest arrived home for a visit yesterday, and is staying for a few days, so more pampering is on the cards !!

Tomorrow, we are going up to London O2, to see the DC comic exhibition, which is for his birthday treat (birthday is on Wednesday).

Hopefully the trains wont be too crowded, as we are going up mid-morning, so shouldn't get squashed !!

Tried to do a little bit of knitting on Saturday. Was ok, but didn't want to overdo things, but at least things are going in the right direction.

Hopefully I will back to normal soon.

Bye for now xx

Out of Action !!!!! ......

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy.

It's been a few days since my last blog. Unfortunately, i've injured my right shoulder. Last Wednesday, we went to my son to dog sit for few hours as he was out all day. We went in hubby's car, and whilst i was sitting in the passenger seat i put my right arm back to reach something on the back seat. It was a bit of a stretch, and at the time I thought I had over-stretched as it felt a bit tender, but wasn't too bad. So of course, Thursday and Friday I carried on as normal doing things, lifting things etc etc (as you do!!). Did the craft fair Friday morning, lifting things in and out of the car, driving etc etc etc.

When Friday evening came, my right arm was really aching!! The weekend saw the pain get worse and worse, and I could hardly move my arm without a lot of pain in my shoulder. Slept very badly Sunday night. Monday morning I got my hubby to make me an appointment to see doctor. Luckily, got one for that morning and after seeing me and seeing what movements I could do with my arm, he diagnosed that I have either torn, or strained the tendon in my right shoulder !! He is referring me to go and have an ultrasound scan - which could take a couple of weeks to come through. In the meantime I have to rest it completely and not do anything !!! Those of you who know me, will know this is the worse thing he could say !! I cant knit or crochet as it's painful. I've tried to make a card but couldn't do any die-cutting without calling hubby to help, so I'm bored rigid already!!

It's the little things that you take for granted, like brushing my hair or even putting deodorant under my arms!! I cant raise my right one to put deodorant under and I cant use my right one to put deodorant under the left arm !!

I'm typing this left-handed, which takes twice as long!!

Hopefully, I will recover sooner rather than later.

Hubby has been great, doing everything for me, which is very frustrating, I'm not a good patient!!

Crochet Tissue Holders......

Morning all, Friday here again !! I hope your week has been fine, and that you are looking forward to the weekend.

I'm thinking about Mother's Day gifts now, and have made these crochet tissue holders. They could possibly hold your mobile phone (depending on what one you have), but I have filled them with the pocket size of tissues. I created a little flower in each corner, and at this moment in time have only made 6.

I'm doing a craft fair today, so will see what the general feedback is before I make anymore.

I'm still using the wool that I was given, so all it has cost me is the price of the buttons and the tissue packs.
I have a big bag of buttons so loads to choose from. I once used to store my buttons just loosely in a quality street tin. I remember years ago getting the tin out to look for some button in particular, and my husband got quite excited at the thought of chocolates.......how disappointed was he, when I gave him the tin to open, and all there was, was buttons LOL !!
 Have a great weekend.
Bye for now xx

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ......

Hope you all have a lovely romantic day with the one you love, and that you are wined and dined tonight !! If you are on your own, I'm sending you a big hug and kisses too !!!

On to today's main blog. I made this duck from the free pattern that I got along with the rabbit kit that I bought from Sandown a few weeks ago. There was enough stuffing left over from the rabbit to use in the duck, but I used my own wool.
On a valentine theme, this is the prize that I sent to Jenny. A combination of hearts, including a die and some chocolates.

Have a lovely day, and I'll see you very soon. xxxxx

Two Birthdays Today .....

Morning all, today is my son's girlfriends birthday and also a member of my craft group.

I showed you the card that I had made for my son's girlfriend last week. Here is the card that I made the lady in my craft group.
The stitched pattern, was a circle, but I've used Sue Wilson, octagons to cut out the shapes, and I think, it works well !
The colours are pale pink and green, which don't photograph so well as stronger colours. The stitching is a multi coloured green thread.

Happy birthday Megan & Sue !!

Another Stitched Christmas Card....This Time With Beads !!!.............

 Morning all, Monday again  !!!

Two things are happening today, firstly I've got a dental appointment (boo !!) and secondly, Hubby and I are meeting up with my son and his girlfriend for lunch, to celebrate her birthday, which is tomorrow (hooray !!)

I did this Stitched pattern last year, but hadn't got around to adding the beads. I had already chosen the topper, so I decided to get on and finish it off.
It's a multi coloured thread, which works well with the topper. Layered onto gold and green card. It doesn't need anything else !!

Hopefully, my mouth wont be sore so that I can enjoy my lunch LOL !!

I'll let you know x

A Valentines Card for Hubby......

Here is the Valentines card that I've made for my Hubby !!

It's ok to show it here.....he doesn't look at my blog LOL !!

I had seen these cards on facebook, and decided as I didn't need to post this one, it would be a good one for hubby.

Really simple to do. Using an A4 sheet of card, I folded in half and then cut from the top corner to the bottom edge, cutting through both layers. The off-cuts are then used as the front pieces , so only 1 sheet of card needed !!
Once I had matted and layered all pieces, I folded the main card together again and cut a slit in the edge (2 pieces together to get the same). I then slotted the other two pieces into it. Whilst it was set up like this, I put some glue behind the two pieces, to hold them together and in the correct place.
These dies are by Phil (can't remember his last name at the moment.....it will probably come to me later) Creative expressions.

Hope hubby likes it !!

By for now x

Stitched Christmas Card.....

Morning all, hope you are all well, and looking forward to the weekend.

Last year, I didn't do many stitched Xmas cards....didn't seem to be enough time to do anything other than for my craft fairs !!

I did this stitched card the other day, so just had to create the card to go with it. I stitched on black card, not something I do normally, as seeing the pricked holes on black card, can be quite difficult. As this was a simple pattern, I didn't have any trouble. I've layered onto gold and black card, using Tattered lace rectangle dies.
The sentiment is i think a Sue Wilson die.
The stitching pattern had stitched stars on the edge, but I decided to add gold stars myself. (These are the "waste" from a Sue Wilson Star Background die)

Now to the winner of the "everything going wrong" competition.....(not many entries).....but the winner is JENNY - cardsarus - prize will be in the post Monday morning xxxx

See you all very soon xx

More Easter Gifts.....

Morning all, Friday here again !!

Firstly, I have to apologise about the repeat blog of yesterday !! don't know quite what happened there, I thought I had scheduled it for yesterday, but it appeared Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. - Oh well you can't have too much of a good thing LOL !!

Anyway, back to today's blog.

I've made some crochet chicks to cover a Cadburys cream egg. When I did my craft fair on Monday, a kind lady brought me in a bag of wool. This yellow was among the collection, and I managed to crochet 5 chicks out of it.

I will announce the winner of the "everything going wrong" prize tomorrow.

Bye for now xx

Mandala Card.......

 Morning all, mid week already......

I've made this card for my son's girlfriend. I used the stencil that I bought at Sandown Craft Show. It's from "Sweet Poppy". I used the silver paste on black card and stenciled the image 3 times, then once dry, cut into the 2nd and 3rd image to create a 3d version.
A close-up of the stencil.

I have to say, I was really pleased with the result.....just wished i had centered the "happy birthday" properly, before I stuck it down!!!!

Note to self : must concentrate more !!!

Enjoy the rest of your day. x

A Valentine's Gift Box ........

Morning all, hope your weekend was a good one !!

I spent most of it doing housework.......and a little bit of crafting !!!

I made these valentine gift boxes on Saturday evening.

I bought this die from Ali Express. It cost me about £2.00 and consists of the frame for the boxes, 4 different panel pieces and 4 matching triangular panels.

I only used the panel on the front and back of the box. The gift-tags were in my free goody bag that I got when I went to Sandown last weekend.

I've filled them with 8 heart shaped chocolates, wrapped in tissue paper.

I'm doing a craft fair this morning, so I'm hoping they sell well today !

The say that things comes in threes, and it has proven true last week. On Wednesday, we were watching a film on TV from netflix, when we noticed there were lines going across the top of the screen. We thought that maybe it was the film, and continued watching. Next morning the lines were still there and getting worse !! So We had to buy a new TV. My paper shredder had begun to struggle to shred the papers and kept stopping, so that was the second purchase. Then to cap it off, on Thursday my hubby and I were going to Epsom to look at a new van for him. I put the sat nav on and we went. When we got there, there were no vans in sight only cars. We went into the sales office where they told us their other office was "just down the road" in Cheam. I got the postcode, we went back to the car, I turned the sat nav on - Nothing !!, no screen, it wouldn't turn on either!! Couldn't believe out luck. Luckily, we had our mobiles so my hubby was able to direct me to the Cheam, and then home.  So now I need to buy a Sat Nav !!! Oh well, I hope that's the last thing !!

Has that ever happened to you?

Let me know, and I'll send a prize to the most amusing story ......comments by Friday please xxx

MAWTT Challenge:- Love, St Valentines, Weddings, Engagements......

Morning all, it's that time again....the MAWTT Challenge. This month Jackie wants to see "Love", and don't we all ???

I have received in the past lovely flowers delivered in a cardboard gift box. I always admired them and thought that I would love to make a smaller box for gifts. So I dismantled the box and had a look at how it was put together......after a few adjustments I came up with this. The flower box was 18 x 25 x 18 cm. The one I have made is 7 x 11 x 7 cm, so considerably smaller !!. I have used skewers and have stuck red heart chocolates and displayed like a flower arrangement.

Have a look on MAWTT  to see the other DT entries.

Bye for now. x
