Parents Anniversary Card......

Morning all, hope you are well and enjoying the weekend.

I told you a while ago, that for my Mother's Day present, my youngest had bought me a book about card lay-outs.
This is the first one I've attempted. I found it strange to be working to a pattern, as I normally just try and find inspiration as I go along. (not always successfully LOL !!). Once I had gathered my pieces of card, it was quite easy to know what went where !

Not exactly the same, I've added a "mum & dad" on a heart in the corner....but pleased with the results.

I must invest in a light I can never get the pale colour cards to show up that well just by using my camera. Any tips ??

Don't forget to put the clocks forward tonight....It will be a shock to the system to wake up an hour earlier !!

Bye for now x

You're A Star !!!!!.....

Morning all, Friday here again !!

Hopefully, wherever you are, all the snow has gone and it's now spring-like !!

I've made this card, not for anyone in particular, but was just playing with ideas, and come up with this ! I thought of shooting added a "tail" to the star using swirls.
In pale green and mauve, I've not added a sentiment yet, but will put in my stash for a rainy day !!

Have a good weekend x

GingerBread Man......

Morning all, sorry that I haven't been around for a bit....don't quite know why, except that time flies !!

Had the ultrasound scan on my shoulder on Saturday, and delighted to say, the tendon wasn't torn, just sprained. I thought as much, as it healed relatively quickly. Have full movement now, but lifting/carrying is still a strain.

On to today's blog. You may remember at the start of the year I said that I was just going to plough through my knitting patterns and make whatever is on  the top. That's because I didn't want to get bored making the same thing over and over again. So this is one now made ready for Christmas !!. The pattern is by "Knittingbypost". He stands at just over inches high.
Did a craft fair on Monday, at an old peoples home. They loved the Easter gifts that I had made, and bought for their grandchildren, and great grandchildren. It was a lovely atmosphere, with the old folks having a little sing-song among themselves!!.

Doing my regular farmers market on Friday and another craft fair on Sunday. Not looking forward to getting up early on Sunday.....especially as the clocks go forward and I'll already be losing an hour LOL !!

Hope they go well, as they are the last ones before Easter, and I'm hoping to sell all my bits with chocolate eggs inside - otherwise Hubby will be eating chocolate until Christmas LOL !!

Thanks for popping by, hope to see you all again soon. x

Card Holder.......

Morning all, Friday again LOL !!. Hope your week has been good so far.

On a Wednesday evening, I meet up with a few friends for a crafting/chatting night. This is what we made on Wednesday. It's a store card holder.

Very simple to create, can hold up to 16 cards.
As you can see, I've loads of store cards. It's always a struggle to find them when I'm in the shop. I always have to ask the shop assistant "what colour is the card?" That gives me a clue as to where it might be LOL !! This card holder is so much clearer. As it's homemade, it wont be a problem to make another one if needed !!
I'm having my shoulder scanned tomorrow afternoon, although it's almost back to normal, in movement, I can't carry anything too heavy still. Also at the end of the day my whole arm is aching, which is probably a good thing, as I try and do too much, my body is telling me to stop.

Have a good weekend. Hopefully if the snow does appear, it wont be around for long !! x

Morning all, I hope you all had a good Mother's Day on Sunday. Both my sons came for lunch, bearing gifts and hugs, so I was happy!! ...........

...... and of course my other boy was there too !!
My youngest bought me a book on card layouts. A really useful book, showing design layouts for square and rectangle cards. It's something that I've not worked to, so will be interesting to see if I can keep to the design. I will show you them, as and when I do some.

On to today, and I've knitted a unicorn to match the hippo and elephant of last week. Knitting by post pattern as before, and like before I've changed it from a PJ case to a soft toy.

Enjoy your day, and please pop by again. x

Fluffy Chicks.............

Morning all, another Monday and the start of another week!! Hope yours will be a good one !

I bought a magazine on Friday "Lets get Crafting - Knitting and crochet". I bought it for the free wool and patterns. Inside was this pattern for these Easter chicks. The pattern said that there would be enough free wool to make 3, but I managed to make 4 !. The original pattern had made the feet, by wrapping some wool around thin wire and then shaping into legs and feet, but as I'll try and sell them I thought I would add felt feet instead.
They are only about 3 inches high, and the wool is so soft and snuggly. I might try and find the wool on-line and buy some bigger balls to make things in the future.
These are the feet. This is a die from Elizabeth crafts, and is actually part of a bee !!. I was looking through my dies, as I have an owl die, and I had thought the feet from the owl would be ok for the chicks. When I saw this die, I thought it would be better.

I'm having a scan on my shoulder on Friday afternoon. It's a great deal better now, but I'll still go, just to make sure that I haven't done any damage.

See you soon x

Mother's Day Card.....

Morning all, happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there.

Here is the card that I made for my mum.  I've used the "John Next Door" - gerbera lattice die.

I cut it out on pink patterned card. The yellow paper behind, and the pink behind the sentiment is a type of parchment paper. Had it for years, but thought it would look good with the pink.

I extended the background a bit longer, so that I could use the flowers together. I also cut the yellow and pink parchment paper, using the "Delicate aster die". I thought it worked well together. Pink and yellow gems in each of the flowers complete the card.

Hope all mother's are spoilt rotten today LOL !!!

Ps. This is the bouquet that I've bought my mum. The flowers are actually soaps!! You can just take a few petals off each time - or keep as it is for the fragrance. The only ones that aren't soaps are the small white and small pink flowers in the centre.

My local florist sells them. If she has any left over after Mother's Day, I might try and see if she will sell them to me at cost price, as I think they would sell well at the craft fairs.

Pink Hippo.........

Morning, a quick blog today. I've knitted a pink hippo, using a pattern from "knittingbypost". It is the same concept as the elephant that I showed the other day. Again, I've used double knit wool, rather than chunky, and filled the body part. This makes it a soft toy, rather than a pyjama case.
Bye for now x

One Die.....Two Ways.....

Morning all, half way into the week already !! Hope you are having a good week so far.
I recently bought the Sue Wilson "Frames and Tags - Flora" die. I decided to cut it out in mauve card stock. The left over piece of card looked good too, so I decided to create 2 cards using the same technique.

I stuck some double sided sticky paper to the back of both pieces, then sprinkled lemon glitter over both pieces. As you can see on the photo below, I've added black dots onto the "waste" piece of card, to give the same illusion as the die cut piece.

I've used similar papers as a background, and an octagon die to create the frame. A sentiment on both finish off the cards.

Another tip, is to use the "off-cuts" from the backing papers as a embellishment on the inside. I think that this makes the card look more professional. (despite the blurred photo !!)

Back to knitting tomorrow, see you soon x

Ribbon Threader.....

Morning all, pleased to say that the snow has almost gone completely, here in Kent, hope it's the same where you are.

I recently bought "John Next Door" - Ribbon threader die. This is the first time I used it, and was pleased at how easy it was to line up the dies, to extend and go around the corners.
I just added a small shop bought bow at the bottom.

Have a good day, and see you again soon. x

Knitting Again.....Hooray !!!!!

Morning all, hope your weekend has been without incident and that you are safe and warm indoors. Glad to say that the temperature has gone up a notch or two, and the snow is beginning to melt!! Having said that the pavements still look a little icy in places.

The craft fair that I was meant to do today, has been cancelled, due to an icy car-park ! They are hoping to re-schedule for later in the month, but I will have missed the opportunity to sell Mother's Day gifts. Never mind, they will keep until next year LOL !!

As you know, I managed to injure my shoulder a couple of weeks ago, just by overstretching. I haven't been able to knit or crochet, but a couple of days ago, I picked up the knitting needles again to see how it felt. Luckily for me it wasn't too bad. I didn't knit for very long, but I have to say it was a joy to be able to sit and knit !!.
I finished off knitting this elephant. Pattern by Knittingbypost. It's supposed to be a pyjama case and knitted in chunky wool, but I knitted in double knit on smaller needles, and filled the body to make a lying down elephant toy.

Ideal for a baby to snuggle up to as there's no bits that can come away.

Hoping to do my regular craft fair tomorrow morning at a community hall. Have all my Easter goodies ready to be sold now LOL !!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Take care next week, if you have to venture out. xx

Brrrr....It's Cold Outside !!!.....

Morning all, hope you are nice and warm indoors !!

Rolo, my border terrier, loves the snow, and tries to eat it as we walk along kicking it up with our feet !!
He managed to get a snowy beard too !!

My eldest was home for a few days, to celebrate his birthday. We went to the O2 in London on Monday, which was fine, although the trains were a bit delayed, we travelled there and back ok. Had a good time in the exhibition (DC Comics) and had something to eat afterwards. On Tuesday, we were meant to be going to my other son for dinner, but as he lives in Maidstone and had had bad snow, we cancelled. Yesterday my eldest drove back to Oxford, and I was a nervous wreck thinking about him, until he rang to say he was safely home !!

My shoulder is healing nicely, and have a lot more movement now and nearly no pain at all, unless I move it into a position that it doesn't want to go in yet !!. Thanks for all your get well messages.

Something, I could manage to do, was to make these Christmas decorations. I bought the kit at Excel last year, with the intention of making them and selling before Christmas, but was too busy and didn't do them in time. I was glad that I hadn't, as it gave me something to concentrate on, whilst resting my arm and shoulder.
Quite easy to do, and there were quite a few left over pieces. Later on, when I can move boxes about, I'm going to get my box of beads out, and see if I can make some more in different colours.

Onto something different now. I have mentioned that I bought some dies from Ali-express. Here is a selection of layering dies that I bought. Each one has a stitching detail on. The largest circle is about 3.75 inches across the diameter, and the overs, as you can see, are of a similar size. I paid less than £2 per set, and there was free postage too. Well worth having a look, of you don't mind waiting for the "slow boat from China" to arrive. Jackie asked about the set up, as it shows american dollars instead of GB pounds. If you go into the top bar it says "ship to" with a flag alongside. Just choose union jack and the currency should change to sterling, or you might have to select the currency separately.
I find these ideal for my stitching projects. There are absolutely loads and loads. Just key in "metal cutting dies" in the search engine on Ali-express site.
Should have been doing a craft fair this morning at the local country market, but it's been cancelled, due to the weather. Pleased because my hubby would have had to take me and carry boxes in etc. Got another one booked for Sunday, but haven't heard yet whether that one is still on !!

Hope you have a good weekend and that the snow soon goes !! x

MAWTT Challenge:- Rainbows.....

Morning all, a new month, and a new challenge from MAWTT.
This month the theme is "Rainbows".

I made this when my shoulder was still painful, so please excuse the lack of anything too elaborate !!

I cut out the rainbow, using circle dies. These dies are from and are very cheap, but extremely useful !!

This sentiment is for my darling husband, who has really looked after me well, since my injury.
I added this little dog image to the bottom piece, as I thought there was too much of a circle showing.

Head over to MAWTT, to see the other DT entries....and have a go yourself and enter a card.

Bye for now x
